CYIS Structure Overview:

CYIS operates through three teams:

1. FOCUS Team plans and runs FOCUS 2027, our flagship in-person case competition.
2. The Toronto Operations Team runs regional programming, marketing, fundraising, and partnerships in the Eastern Canada region.
3. Vancouver Operations Team runs regional programming, marketing, fundraising, and partnerships in the Western Canada region.

Both Operations teams are led by an EVP of Programming and an EVP of Communications, working jointly. Our National Co-Presidents (Andrew Grignano and Aidan Mok) oversee the entire organization, and the FOCUS Chair oversees the FOCUS Team.

HOW TO APPLY:

You can apply for a maximum of TWO positions. Choose the two you want most and rank them as such. Operations postings are evidently restricted by where you live (i.e: cannot apply for a Toronto Operations role if living in Vancouver).

PLEASE NOTE:

After a successful application, being a part of CYIS' National Team mandates that you can not simultaneously be on the executive team of other relevant, competing financial literacy organizations. This is similar to any standard non-compete clause, and will be presented upon signing your contract with CYIS after a successful application.

You must select up to two (2) postings and rank them. Only the postings you are eligible for will appear once you have entered your province. Then, fill out the Supplemental Questions on the next page for your choices.

Due to the proprietary experience needed, the FOCUS Chair and both EVP positions will likely be filled internally by existing senior members of the CYIS team.

List of Positions & Responsibilities:

Vice President of Administration (1 per FOCUS, Toronto, Vancouver): Handling administration and delegate affairs. Main contact point for delegates and school teachers throughout the year regarding registration and event details. Manages internal databases and general admin for FOCUS Flagship event + National Stock Pitch Competition and online workshops throughout the year.

Vice President of Logistics (1 per FOCUS, Toronto, Vancouver) - Responsible for negotiating and securing venue, room setups, ordering supplies, schedules, AV, and volunteer (i.e: case competition judges, guest speakers) recruitment.

Vice President of Conference (FOCUS only) - Develops the conference and competition theme (i.e: FOCUS 2026 was a written M&A-oriented case developed with team members from RBC). Handles outreach to judges, panelists, workshop leads, and keynote speakers with Vice President of Logistics. Builds the conference programming.

Vice President of Finance (FOCUS only) - Creates the conference-specific budget, tracks spending, and provides recommendations on fund allocation for supplies etc... Manages grants, donations, and sponsorships, and recruits sponsors in conjunction with regional finance team members.

Vice President of Marketing (1 per FOCUS, Toronto, Vancouver) - Creates the marketing strategy and develops registration campaigns across social media and school outreach. Also creates Chapter Leader social media posts for branding consistency.

Vice President of Chapters (1 per Toronto and Vancouver each) - Responsible for restarting the CYIS Chapter system on a local scale, targeting ten new high school and university chapters by June 2027. Holds biweekly meetings with each Chapter Leader. Requires strong communication and time management. Ideally, the Vice President of Chapters begins their work by starting a CYIS Chapter at their old school.

Vice President of Outreach (1 per Toronto, Vancouver) - Responsible for school outreach, partnerships with clubs at major universities (i.e: UofT, UBC). Works closely with VP of Partnerships and VP of Finance, as ultimate responsibility is to secure sponsorships.

Administration Supplement
Describe a process you inherited that was inefficient. How did you diagnose the problem and fix it?
You are the bridge between judges, sponsors, organization team, and participants. How do you keep all four parties aligned without becoming a bottleneck?
Logistics Supplement
Imagine that you are tasked with organizing a new event for CYIS: an in-person stock pitch contest. Students would pre-prepare pitch decks for companies of their choosing and present them to a panel of judges. Walk us through how you would coordinate acquiring a venue, organizing sign-ups, onboarding emcees, volunteer judges etc...
What prior experience do you have running clubs or leading events, workshops, and similar? What were the specific responsibilities and outcomes of your work, and how will that reflect on your work with CYIS?
Conference Supplement
Choose a company/organization and propose an original business case study that you believe would be engaging for high school students.
Finance Supplement
CYIS cannot exist without fundraising. What experience, if any, do you have working in areas like cold outreach (emails, cold calls) or fundraising in general (other non-profits, startups etc...)?
What new ideas can you bring to the table with regards to outreach and fundraising strategies at CYIS? How do you think you can improve the finance function at CYIS?
If possible, briefly describe the warm contacts or connections you have that could be willing to partner with or sponsor CYIS for the 2026-27 year.
Marketing Supplement
