TWU Local 575 Membership Referendum

The Executive Board believes now is the right time to purchase a union hall, and here's why:

We're already spending money on rent. Every month we pay rent for office space, but we don't own anything at the end of the day. Buying a building lets us invest in something that belongs to the membership.

Due to the dilapidated state of the current office, we spend money renting hotels for our General Membership Meetings. Having our own union hall means we'll have a permanent place to hold meetings, trainings, and member events without paying for outside venues.

This is a great opportunity. We've looked at what's available in the area, and opportunities like this don't come around often. We believe this property is a good value for the Local and our members.

Our members deserve a union hall. Many other TWU Locals have their own union hall. After everything our members have accomplished, we believe Local 575 deserves a permanent home where members can meet, learn, organize, and build the future of our Local.

A union hall gives us a place to:

• Hold General Membership Meetings
• Train stewards and future leaders
• Meet with members
• Hold committee meetings
• Prepare for arbitrations and grievances
• Bring members together for events and education

This isn't just about buying a building. It's about investing in the future of TWU Local 575 and creating something that will benefit our members for years to come.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT AND MEMBERSHIP REFERENDUM DISCLOSURE

I am a member in good standing of TWU Local 575 and am eligible to participate in this membership referendum.

I understand that the proposed property is intended to benefit the membership by providing a permanent location for union meetings, member training, committee activities, and other official Local business.

I understand that this referendum is being conducted to provide the membership with an opportunity to express its support or opposition regarding the proposed purchase of the property. My response will be considered as part of the collective voice of the membership.

I understand that the Executive Board and officers of TWU Local 575 may consider the results of this membership referendum, together with any discussion and action taken during a Special Membership Meeting, when determining whether to proceed with the proposed property purchase.

I acknowledge that my participation is voluntary and that I have been, or will be, provided an opportunity to ask questions via email or during an upcoming Special Membership Meeting and request additional information regarding the proposal.

I certify that the information I provide on this form is true and accurate and that I am submitting only one response. Any duplicate or fraudulent submissions may be disqualified.
