Kogire Fabric Flower Adornments
A Two-Part Workshop with Leah Sekiguchi

Give new life to treasured fabric scraps in this two-part workshop led by Leah Sekiguchi. Using small pieces of fabric, also known as kogire, participants will learn how to create fabric flowers that can be arranged into necklaces, wearable accessories, decorative embellishments, and more.

During the first session, Leah will introduce the flower-making process and guide participants through creating their first pieces. Students will return for the second session with the flowers they made on September 20, continue creating additional flowers, and explore ways to combine and arrange them as adornments.

Bring remnants from past projects, favorite patterns, or meaningful textiles and transform them into something new.

What You’ll Make:
Participants will create fabric flowers that can be combined into necklaces or used as adornments for clothing, accessories, gift wrapping, home décor, and other creative projects.

What to Bring:
Enough fabric to cut 40 double-sided circles measuring 1.5 inches each
Fusible web for appliqué, such as Wonder Under or HeatnBond
1.5 mm round elastic cord or Chinese knotting thread
Craft or fabric glue
Small binder clips, sewing clips, or paper clips
Small scissors for detailed cutting
Ruler
Pencil
Optional: Needle and hand-quilting thread
For the September 27 session, please also bring the flowers you made during the first class.
