      Has never skied/ snowboarded before OR cannot complete some of the skills to qualify for the “beginner/ intermediate” level below.

       

      Beginner/ intermediate: Has a grasp of the basics and can slide, stop and turn with control

      • Understands equipment basics and how to move around on flat terrain

      • Can slide, stop, and control speed on blue slopes (snowplow / heel & toe edge braking)

      • Link basic turns on blue slopes

      • Ride drag lifts/ chair lifts with little assistance

       

      Intermediate: Comfortable on blue slopes & some red slopes

      • Confident linked turns (plow turns / skidded snowboard turns)

      • Maintain speed control on blue and easier red slopes

      • Start using poles (ski) or basic switch riding (snowboard)

      • Try small jumps and simple terrain park features

       

      Intermediate/ Advanced: Strong rider on red slopes

      • Dynamic short and long turns (skidded + beginning carving)

      • Confident on steeper red terrain and variable snow

      • Comfortable on small to medium jumps and boxes/rails

      • May try off-piste routes with guidance

       

      Advanced: High-level performance on any terrain

      • Powerful carved and skidded turns on all slope grades

      • Confident riding black runs, off-piste, and mixed snow conditions

      • Comfortable with terrain park features and advanced tricks

      • Focus on flow, style, and safety for freeride or freestyle

    For boarders, it will be possible for medication to be administered by our camp nurse and in line with the permission you may give. Naturally parents will be informed if medication is given.

    - Pain relief: Irfen, Dalafgan, Ibruprofen
    - Allergy: Aerius
    - Nasal Congestion: Vogel nasal spray
    - Stomach ache (vomiting): Primperan
    - Diarrhoea: Probiotic
    - Minor cuts: Plasters bioflorin
    - Panic attack: Rescue remedy drops
    - Burn cream: Biafin
    - Antiseptic: Fucidin

  • PERSONAL INFORMATION COLLECTION STATEMENT

  • 1. Purpose of Data Collection

    The personal data collected from applicants and/or their parents/guardians through this application form will be handled by our staff, kept confidential, and used by Verbier International School (“we” or “us”) for the following lawful and relevant purposes:

    - Assessing the suitability of the applicant for admission to Verbier International School (the “School”) or its Camp programme.

    - Processing applications for admission.

    - Verification of the applicant’s academic records and other information provided.

    - Administration and operation of the school/camp after admission.

    - Sending communications to parents and students, including but not limited to newsletters, updates, and information about the School or camp.

    - Statistical, research, and reporting purposes.

    - Alumni relations and activities.

     

    2. Direct Marketing

    Where our communications constitute direct marketing, we will seek your consent separately if required by law.

     

    3. Disclosure of Personal Data

    We may disclose some of the data to third parties such as agencies (including the Swiss government), service providers, and contractors (within or outside the jurisdiction in which the School is located) appointed by us to perform academic, pastoral, and administrative functions. This may include transferring data between our affiliates. We will not disclose personal data to any other external bodies unless:

    - Such disclosure is expressly provided for under this Statement;

    - Permitted by the applicant or their parent/guardian; and/or

    - Permitted or required by law.

     

    4. Storage of Personal Data

    Personal data may be stored in our or our affiliates’ database systems (which may be located within or outside the jurisdiction in which the School operates) and online portals. If the application is successful, such personal data will form part of the applicant’s official student records. It may also be stored in online student resources such as the global classroom.

     

    5. Retention and Destruction

    Personal data not required or permitted to be retained by law will be destroyed once it is no longer needed to fulfil the relevant purpose.

     

    6. Use of Photos and Work

    We may use a student’s photo, video footage, name, or work in our or our affiliates’ websites, social media, marketing materials, corporate communications (including annual reports), or publications. If you do not wish for such data to be used, please notify us in writing.

     

    7. Consequences of Non-Disclosure

    Failure to provide requested data may prevent us from processing the application and may influence the outcome.

     

    8. Accuracy and Security

    All practicable steps will be taken to ensure the accuracy and security of personal data held by us, preventing unauthorized or accidental access, collection, use, disclosure, modification, or disposal.

     

    9. Access and Correction

    Applicants and their parents/guardians have the right to access or correct personal data held by the School. Requests should be submitted in writing to the Principal. A fee may apply for access to the information.
