  • Mackay District Junior Referee Academy

    EOI to Referee at 2026 Coral Country Cup 2026

  • Mackay District Junior Rugby Union, in partnership with Queensland Rugby Union and Mackay Referees, is seeking expressions of interest for the establishment of a Junior Referee Academy.

    The Academy is aimed at aspiring match officials aged 12 and over, while also welcoming adults who are beginning their refereeing journey.

    Through education, mentoring and practical match experience, the Academy will help participants develop confidence and officiating skills, strengthen referee participation across the region, and create a pathway into Mackay Referees and higher-level officiating opportunities.

    Participants who complete the program will receive a QRU Junior Referee Academy Certificate. Eligible participants may also be able to count their involvement towards the Skills section of the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award.

  • attend a referee ready with if not completed before*
  • Complete Season Ready Referee (by 1st October)*
  • Accept mentoring and coaching feeback*
  • Register to Mackay Referees*
