On behalf of Latinos in the South, and Zero Homophobia/Transphobia of the Latino Commission on AIDS, we are searching for LGBTQ+ Latine Leaders to join our COMPES Collective. The goal of COMPES is to inform and empower LGBTQ+ Latines living in the United States mainland and territories to respond to the real needs of the queer-Latine community. Leaders will take part in a training that summarizes the skills necessary to advocate for the health and wellness of LGBTQ Latines. We are coming together in response to the current hostile political climate and to build long-term strategies for collective liberation.
This COMPES series will include learning on Resisting Homophobia, Transphobia and Anti-Immigrant Policies for Latine Health and Liberation.
Selected leaders will attend a one-day, exclusive training session in Durham, North Carolina. This training will summarize the essential skills needed to advocate for the health and wellness of LGBTQ+ Latines, featuring learning on resisting homophobia, transphobia, and anti-immigrant policies as they relate to Latine health and liberation.
In addition, COMPES participants are encouraged to stay in town for the Latinos in the South Encuentro Conference. COMPES leaders may be eligible for discounted registrant rates.
