  • Finding Nemo Jr. offers a wide variety of roles—large and small—with solos, one-liners, and fun featured moments throughout the show. We believe that every role, including ensemble parts, has a chance to shine on stage.  Read more about the offered roles, here.

  • Teacher Recommendations Required


    As part of the audition process, each student must submit one teacher recommendation. This recommendation will be considered as part of the student’s overall audition score.

    Please provide the email address of a teacher your child had during the previous school year. Once your form is submitted, the teacher will receive a short recommendation form to complete on your child’s behalf.

     

    If your child is in Kindergarten or new to Dogwood, they may use their current teacher's email address.

  • Audition Sign-Up Instructions


    Auditions will take place on Tuesday, September 8th and Wednesday, September 9th. Students sign up for one time slot on either day. Students will audition in groups of 10, and only available time slots will appear in the calendar below.

    Once you submit your form, you will receive a confirmation email. That email will include a link allowing you to cancel or reschedule your audition time if needed.

    Important: Callbacks will be held on Thursday, September 10th, so please make sure your child is available in case they are asked to return.

    SIGNUPS FOR OUR AUDITION WORKSHOPS

    Please note: We highly recommend those who have little to no audition experience attend the Audition Workshop. Students who are signed up will go to Mrs. Cunningham's room at dismissal and stay until 5:30.


    Those who are registered for auditions by August 28th will receive information to sign up for the workshop. Sign-ups are first come, first served. There are only 30 spots available!

  • Important Information

    PLEASE LIST ALL WEEKLY & ONE-TIME CONFLICTS ON THIS FORM.
    “CONFLICTS” include any day/time that your child will be unavailable for rehearsal during both weekdays as well as weekends. This also includes one-time events and recurring events (practices/games/etc.). Availability will be taken into consideration as casting decisions are made.

    In addition to reviewing important details below, please note that rehearsals will occur weekly on Tuesdays and Wednesdays after school until 5:30 pm. Starting in January, we will rehearse more than twice a week, so extra availability is expected during that time.


    The Director Team may add rehearsals or change rehearsal times when necessary, however this will be rare. While some conflicts may be approved by the Director prior to casting, ALL rehearsals become MANDATORY regardless of conflicts beginning January 5th, 2027.


    Cast members are expected to prioritize play rehearsals over any previously approved
    activities/conflicts after this date. A successful theater production only works when all
    members of the team are present at all rehearsals.

    Deep Blue Drama Attendance Policy: Attendance issues will result in dismissal following the 3rd occurrence with the exception being one of the following:

    • Previously approved/planned absence communicated prior to casting via the audition form prior to mandatory rehearsal start date 9/15/26
    • Excused school absence in which you should email grace.mckinney@gmsdk12.org
    •  to notify of the absence.
    • Emergency in which you have personally contacted the Director Team prior to the rehearsal
    • School-Sponsored Event that occurs prior to mandatory rehearsal start date 01/05/27

    There will be a total of 4 show performances on February 12th-14th with a
    staff preview night on February 11th.

    We will host a mandatory parent meeting on Wednesday, September 16th at 5:30. 

  • Financial Commitment


    All cast members are required to pay a participation fee of $200, due at the Parent Meeting in September.

    This fee can be paid:

    • By check (made out to Dogwood Elementary School)
    • By credit or debit card via School Cash

    The fee helps cover:

    • Costumes
    • Pizza lunches during Saturday rehearsals
    • Cast member t-shirts
    • General supplies for the cast and set


    You will also be asked to purchase a pair of jazz shoes for your child closer to the start of mandatory rehearsals. The specific color and style will be determined by the Director and Costume Committee. These typically cost around $25.
