About the Exhibition
This is the 2nd Biennial of the Friends of Finland juried exhibtion of Contemporary, Folk and Traditional Arts & Crafts by Finnish, Finnish American artists, and Finnish-loving friends. The Friends of Finland exhibition is an open call. The exhibition will promote Finlandia Foundation National’s mission of championing Finnish culture and heritage through art. It will be up during our annual Heikinpäivä, a Finnish American mid-winter festival in January 2027.
Finlandia Foundation National's, Finlandia Art Gallery is located in the Finnish American Heritage Center, in Hancock Michigan.
Important Dates
- Submission form is due by 11:59 PM ET October 4th
- Notifications of acceptance will go out on October 9th
- Acceptance form is to be signed and returned electronically or printed off and placed in the box that is to be shipped
- Shipped work should arrive at the gallery no later than November 6th
- Hand delivered artwork is to be dropped off at the gallery November 23rd between 8:30 AM-4:00 PM ET, unless different plans have been made and approved by the curator
- Exhibition runs from December 2nd - February 4th
- Reception: December 3rd, 7-8:30 PM ET
- Pick up work on February 5th, 2027, between 8:30 AM-4:00 PM ET
- Mailed work will be repackaged and shipped in the original packing materials and returned to the address provided in this form by the artist within three weeks of the exhibition closing.
Eligibility
Must be eighteen years or older to apply. Artwork must have been made within the past five years. Artwork must be able to be displayed on or against the wall (narrow shelves mounted on the wall are available for small free standing 3D work (must be less than 7" in depth; no work will be displayed on pedestals). Artwork previously exhibited at the gallery is not eligible. All 2D work must arrive "gallery ready" and "ready to hang". No glass in framed artwork, plexiglass is okay.
Submissions
All entries must be submitted by filling out the following Jotform. There is no entry fee. Artists can submit between 1-3 images; the jury will select specific artworks for the exhibition based on submissions.

All accepted artwork/s is to be delivered/shipped to:

The artist is responsible for the postage to the gallery. Finlandia Art Gallery will pay for the return shipping back to the artist.

Commission
There is a 20% commission paid to the gallery for work sold during the exhibition. All sales will be handled by the Curator, Lindsey Heiden. Sold artwork will remain in the gallery until the end of the exhibition unless special arrangements are made.
Awards
Three artists will be selected and rewarded by being recognized in the Finnish American Reporter, a monthly journal publication. And will also be featured across the many social media platforms of Finlandia Foundation National.
