The Membership Committee is all about creating connections that make our Chamber community stronger. Whether you're celebrating a ribbon cutting, welcoming attendees at an event, reaching out to members, or introducing a new business to the Chamber, you'll help create the welcoming, collaborative environment that sets our organization apart. Through our Ambassador and Welcome Committee teams, you'll build relationships with fellow business leaders, expand your network, and help ensure every member feels connected, valued, and excited to be part of the Greater Bloomington Chamber of Commerce. Every handshake, conversation, and introduction helps strengthen our local business community.

Welcome Committee Team Requirements (type "I agree")
Members of the Welcome Committee team are expected to: Attend at least two ribbon cuttings or open houses each month. Attend at least six Business After Hours events each year. Volunteer at a minimum of three Business After Hours events each year. Maintain a basic understanding of Chamber membership benefits and encourage prospective members to join. Use Chamber events to help members build connections and expand their professional networks. Remain in good standing with the Chamber and represent the organization professionally and positively. Attend quarterly in-person committee meetings, with advance notice provided if an absence is necessary.
Ambassador Team Requirements (type "I agree")
Members of the Ambassador team are expected to: Commit 3 to 5 hours each month for events, mentoring, and committee work. Represent the Chamber with enthusiasm. Mentor new businesses and help them feel connected to the Chamber, suggest programs and events that are beneficial to their growth. Attend at least 1 ribbon cutting/open house event per month. Attend at least 8 Business After Hours events each year. Attend all monthly Ambassador online meetings (recruitment and retention focused) Attend all Quarterly in-person meetings Volunteer at Chamber Events/Programs as needed. Refer non-members by having a basic understanding of member benefits and proactively encourage non-members to join the Chamber, with a goal to generate at least 1 new member per year. Stay in good standing with the Chamber, always act professionally, utilize all events to assist in growing members’ networks, and create a positive image for the Chamber.
The Membership Committee meets approximately once/quarter for a full committee meeting with optional social monthly meet-ups. Each Committee member is expected to attend 1-2 Chamber events/month and attend as many Ribbon Cuttings as possible. Please state whether you will be able to commit to attending these meetings/events and list any standing obligations that may interfere with attending meetings/events.
