7th Annual Girls Empowerment Camp Application

What is the Girls Empowerment Camp? The GEC is a free,two-day camp for children ages 14-18. The camp introduces them to the fire service and provides campers with a realistic, hands-on overview of firefighting. The camp exposes teens to all aspects of a fire service career, including the minimum qualifications for employment and the job's physical demands. The program also empowers campers with life skills and professional guidance to encourage them to pursue careers in public safety. The GEC featureshands-on stations allowing campers to gain familiarity, experience, andconfidence with fire service functions. Activities will include stations with ropes and knots, first aid, aerial ladder climbing, confidence course, roofprop ventilation, hose handling, and leadership. The campers will be divided into companies and, with the guidance of their company leader, rotate through the various stations where station leaders provide instruction and demonstration.
