  • Welcome to the Guiding Lantern Therapist Book Club

    We're so glad you're here!

The Guiding Lantern Therapist Book Club is a space created for the self of the therapist—a welcoming community where new therapists and aspiring therapists can grow beyond the therapy room, supervision, and formal training. Together, we'll explore thought-provoking books that foster professional and personal development while engaging in meaningful conversations about identity, therapeutic presence, ethics, and the realities of our work. Whether you're a student, associate, or seasoned clinician, you'll find a place to learn, connect, and be encouraged alongside fellow helping professionals.

We look forward to reading, reflecting, and growing with you.

    Program Dates: September 16, 2026 – December 16, 2026

    Respect for One Another
I will engage with fellow participants in a respectful, kind, and professional manner. I understand that individuals may have different perspectives, experiences, identities, beliefs, and opinions. I agree to contribute to an environment that encourages curiosity, thoughtful dialogue, and mutual respect.

    Privacy & Confidentiality
The Guiding Lantern Therapist Book Club is intended to be a space where participants can engage in thoughtful discussion and personal reflection. While this is not a therapy group or estabish a client-therapist relationship, personal experiences may naturally arise during conversations.

I agree to respect the privacy of all participants by:

    • Not sharing, discussing, or reposting another participant's personal stories, comments, or identifying information outside of the book club.
    • Not recording, photographing, screenshotting, or distributing any portion of meetings without prior permission from Guiding Lantern and all participants involved.
    • Recognizing that confidentiality is a shared commitment among participants rather than a legal guarantee.

    Limits of Confidentiality
While Guiding Lantern will make every reasonable effort to foster a confidential environment, confidentiality among participants cannot be guaranteed. Participants are responsible for honoring the privacy of others.

As the facilitator and a Licensed Professional Counselor, I am also legally and ethically required to take appropriate action if information is disclosed that indicates:

    A risk of serious harm to oneself or another person;

    • Suspected abuse, neglect, or exploitation of a child, older adult, or vulnerable individual, as required by law; or
    • Another circumstance requiring disclosure under applicable federal or Texas law or professional ethical standards.

    Personal Opinions & Professional Perspectives
The ideas, opinions, and reflections shared by participants represent the perspectives of the individual sharing them and do not necessarily reflect the views, values, or positions of Guiding Lantern or the facilitator.

Likewise, discussion of books, authors, research, or resources is intended to encourage learning and conversation and should not be interpreted as an endorsement of every opinion or viewpoint expressed within those materials.

    Participation & Personal Responsibility
I understand that I am responsible for deciding what I choose to share during discussions. I agree to participate in ways that support a safe, respectful, and collaborative learning environment.

I acknowledge that the Guiding Lantern Theapist Book Club is designed for education, professional reflection, and community building.
