Join the AstroTrail [AR] Educator Project
A Place-Based SciArt Project for Classrooms and Afterschool Programs

Thank you for your interest in AstroTrail [AR], a new STEMarts Lab initiative that explores the connections between land, sky, and space through science, art, storytelling, and outdoor learning.

Made possible through the generous support of the New Mexico Outdoor Equity Fund, the project expands opportunities for middle and high school students in northern New Mexico to engage in meaningful outdoor exploration, creative expression, and place-based learning.

Inspired by the Cascabel Trailhead in the Rio Grande del Norte National Monument, students explore their relationship with place through observation, mapping, storytelling, and scientific inquiry while contributing to an evolving collaborative artwork and augmented reality (AR) experience that shares youth perspectives with future trail visitors.

    Participating educators receive:

    • The STEMarts AstroTrail Activity Guide with flexible classroom and outdoor learning activities.
    • Curriculum resources and supporting science, art, and cultural materials.
    • Support from the STEMarts team throughout the project.
    • Opportunities for field trips to the Cascabel Trailhead. The opportunity for student work to become part of a collaborative artwork and an augmented reality experience that shares youth voices and perspectives with future trail visitors.
Please complete the registration form below. We will contact you with project updates, educator resources, training opportunities, and next steps for participation.
