• EIT Tairāwhiti in partnership with Trust Tairāwhiti, is offering scholarships for students enrolling in the Bachelor of Computing Systems in 2026 and 2027. We welcome applications from learners who demonstrate a strong interest in innovative technology fields such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Robotics, and Drone Technology.

    This scholarship is designed to support aspiring technology leaders who are eager to explore how cutting-edge technologies can solve real-world challenges and contribute to the future of our region.

    This scholarship is awarded up to three students annually to the total value of $9,000 each.

    Application closes: 30th September 2026, 11:59pm

     

    Eligibility Criteria 

    • Open to current students or recent school leavers intending to enrol full-time in the Bachelor of Computing Systems. 
    • Applicants must meet EIT entry requirements and demonstrate academic potential, motivation, and readiness for tertiary study in computing.
    • Priority may be given to students from, or with strong connections to the Tairawhiti region.

    Your scholarship submission must include:

    A personal statement addressing the following:

    • Career goals and future ambitions - Outline your career aspirations and how your education will help you make a positive contribution to your community or chosen field.
    • Personal strengths and challenges overcome - Share key experiences that have shaped your character and personal growth.
    • Academic achievements and educational aspirations - Highlight any academic successes, why you have chosen this field to study, and what you hope to achieve through further study
    • Passion for computing, technology, and innovation - Describe any experiences, projects, or learning opportunities that have helped develop or strengthen your interest for computing, technology, and innovation.
    • Community service and contribution - Explain how you have supported community, family, or cultural groups, and the impact of your involvement
    • Scholarship impact - Explain why you are applying for this scholarship and how it will support your educational journey.

     

    A letter of support from one of the following people or groups, explaining how and why they believe this scholarship will support you. This letter can come from either one of the following groups or people:

    • Community organisation or representative
    • Lecturer, tutor, or school teacher
    • A sports club or coach
    • Church or faith group

     

    In addition, we also ask for the following documents to be provided:

    • Evidence of application or intention to enrol in the Bachelor of Computing Systems.
    • A school academic record of learning or academic transcript

     

     

    Application outcome:

    The granting of this scholarship will be assessed by a panel comprising of members of EIT and Trust Tairawhiti.

  • RECIPIENT OBLIGATIONS 


    As a condition of accepting the Future Tech Scholarship, recipients must:

    1. Enrol in the Bachelor of Computing Systems at EIT in 2026 or 2027.
      Maintain satisfactory academic progress throughout the duration of their first year of study.
    2. Complete their first year of study in the Bachelor of Computing Systems programme.
    3. Attend scholarship-related, donor, or EIT events when reasonably requested.
    4. Provide a short progress update, testimonial, or reflective statement outlining how the scholarship has supported their studies and development.
    5. Act as a positive ambassador for the Future Tech Scholarship, EIT, and Trust Tairāwhiti where appropriate.
    6. Notify EIT promptly of any changes to their enrolment status, study programme, or personal circumstances that may affect their eligibility for the scholarship.
