  • Join Jewish Voice for Peace New Haven and Mending Minyan for a special screening of Steal This Story, Please!, a gripping account of trailblazing journalist Amy Goodman. From the frontlines of global conflicts to the organized chaos of her daily news show Democracy Now!, Goodman amplifies stories and voices too often silenced by commercial media. Academy Award-nominated filmmakers Carl Deal and Tia Lessin take us behind the scenes with the warm, wisecracking granddaughter of an Orthodox rabbi — raised in a tradition of asking hard questions – as she navigates a media landscape reshaped by technology, corporate consolidation, and political assaults on the press and on truth itself. Urgent, provocative and unexpectedly funny, Steal This Story, Please! is both a call to action and a celebration of resistance, posing the question: what happens to democracy when the press stops challenging power? For this special screening, we will be joined by local journalists for a Talkback.

    Access

    Theater is located on the first floor, with no steps required to access the lobby, theater, or restrooms. Facilities include a single-stall accessible restroom, as well as a gender-neutral multi-stall restroom with an accessible stall. Parking lot includes two accessible parking spaces, with additional parking available close to the entrance.

    One designated space that can accommodate a wheelchair near the operating booth.The remaining seats are accessible via a shallow ramp down the center aisle.

    The screening will have English closed captions.
