The Office of Religious Education will present a sexual abuse prevention program, the Touching Safety Program, to our students. This program is provided by the Diocese of El Paso and is part of our ongoing effort to help create a safe environment and protect all children from sexual abuse. The scheduled lesson will be offered to all students enrolled in the Office of Religious Education. As a parent or guardian, you have the right to decide whether your child participates in this program. We encourage you to review the attached “Overview” and “Lesson Plan” so that you are aware of the nature and content of the Touching Safety Program. First Holy Communion Catechesis Requirements | Requisitos de la Catequesis para la Primera Comunión
Candidate Attendance and Punctuality | Asistencia y Puntualidad de los Candidatos(as) English: In-person catechesis will begin on Sunday, August 23, 2026. All candidates are expected to attend all scheduled catechetical sessions and arrive on time.If a candidate accumulates three (3) or more absences, whether excused or unexcused, the parent(s) or guardian(s) will be required to schedule a meeting with the Director of Religious Education to determine whether the candidate may continue in the Confirmation catechetical program. Additionally, if a candidate accumulates more than three (3) tardies within the same month, these tardies will be counted as one (1) absence. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Español: La catequesis presencial dará inicio el domingo, 23 de agosto de 2026. Se espera que todos los candidatos(as) asistan a todas las sesiones de catequesis programadas y lleguen puntualmente. Parent Participation Requirement | Requisito de Participación de Padres de Familia English: Our catechesis program is not a children-only catechesis program; it is a family catechesis program. It is a requirement that both parents participate, or at least one parent/guardian participate, during the same class time as the child being enrolled. No exceptions. Punctual Mass Attendance Requirement Requisito de Asistencia PUNTUAL a la Misa English: Children enrolled in the English First Holy Communion Program will attend Mass at 10:00 AM; however, they must arrive by 9:30 AM for check-in and preparation. After Mass, they will continue with their catechetical formation from 11:30 AM–1:00 PM. Children enrolled in the Spanish First Holy Communion Program will begin their catechetical formation from 9:30 AM–11:30 AM and attend the 12:00 PM (Noon) Mass. Candidates and their families are expected to arrive on time for both Mass and catechetical formation. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Español: Los niños(as) inscritos en el Programa de Primera Comunión en Inglés asistirán a la Misa de las 10:00 AM; sin embargo, deberán llegar a las 9:30 AM para registrarse y prepararse. Español: La aportación de inscripción para el curso 2026-2027 es de $100 por candidato por año. Esta aportación ayuda a cubrir los gastos de materiales y recursos necesarios para la formación catequética. Después del 13 de septiembre de 2027, se aplicará un cargo adicional de $25 por inscripción tardía (Late Registration Fee).
