We are excited to announce auditions for our upcoming production of The Nutcracker!
This approximately 45-minute production will be a magical interpretation of the beloved fairy tale by E.T.A. Hoffmann, set to the timeless music of P. Tchaikovsky and featuring elements inspired by the traditional choreography of Marius Petipa.
Dancers of different ages and experience levels will come together to create an unforgettable holiday performance filled with beautiful costumes, storytelling, character roles, ensemble dancing, and featured solos.
This is a wonderful opportunity for young dancers to experience the excitement of being part of a full theatrical production, grow as performers, build confidence on stage, and share the stage with an amazing soloist from New York City Ballet.
Roles
We will be casting a wide variety of roles, including:
Clara, the Prince, Drosselmeyer, Fritz, Mouse King, Mice, Soldiers, Magical Toy Dolls, Bon Bons, Snowflakes, Snow Queen, and other featured characters.
Dancers will also be selected for featured and solo roles in the traditional Spanish, Arabian, Chinese, and Russian dances, along with additional ensemble and character parts.
Role assignments will be based on age, ability, performance quality, musicality, creativity, stage presence, and the needs of the production.
Every role is an important part of bringing the magic of The Nutcracker to life!
Optional Solo Presentation
Students are welcome to prepare and present a solo dance of up to 60 seconds during the audition.
The solo may be in any dance style and does not need to be technically complex. We encourage dancers to use this opportunity to show their creativity, musicality, personality, confidence, and love of dance.
Preparing a solo is not required, but it is highly recommended for dancers who would like to be seriously considered for featured and solo roles.
