    Description: Mia will present on the intersections of Grief for Veterans, Caregivers and Professionals working in Longterm Care (LTC). Mia will define and explore modern Veteran populations, identify emotional care needs within LTC, examine challenges and effects of LTC and Palliative settings. Mia will also explore strategies and approaches for caring for Veterans across the LTC and Palliative care. 

    Bio: Mia Robertson is an end-of-life doula and community volunteer located in the Annapolis Valley. She grew up in Bridgetown NS and worked as a nurse’s aid before joining the Canadian Armed Forces where she served for 14 years. It was a combination of her long-term care, palliative and experiences overseas that led her to becoming an end-of-life doula and volunteer in community palliative care. She is currently involved in a professional grief care initiative and is passionate about creating resources for Veterans in long-term care and at end-of-life in Nova Scotia.
