    Students may optionally submit a video of less than one minute explaining why they want to join FTC and what they can contribute to a team. FTC is open to students entering grades 7-12. The video is encouraged but is not required for registration or placement.

  • Our program is run by dedicated coaches. Parent involvement is crucial to our success. No prior knowledge of robotics is needed. 

    We also provide training before the season and are there to help every session. We welcome and encourage all parents to participate.

  • We need your help to make our program a success! Before we can assign students to teams, we need to find awesome parents like you to be coaches. We need at least two parent coaches for each team. 

  • Would you like to hear about coaching a team?

  • Attendance and Commitment:

    • Coaches must attend the majority of team meetings and all competitions.
    • Reconsider coaching if you have extended travel planned during the season unless your team has at least two coaches.

  • Inclusivity and Fairness:

    • Foster an inclusive environment that welcomes all students, regardless of background or skill level.
    • Ensure all students have the opportunity to participate and contribute, even if it's less convenient.

  • Role Modeling and Behavior:

    • Demonstrate exemplary conduct, embodying the values of Gracious Professionalism and Coopertition.
    • Promote a positive team culture, encouraging open communication and constructive feedback.
    • Address conflicts promptly and fairly, creating a respectful and supportive environment.

  • Communication and Coordination:

    • Maintain clear and consistent communication with team members, parents, and other coaches.
    • Engage with parents, keeping them informed about team progress and schedules.
    • Assist in coordinating logistics for meetings, practices, and competitions.

  • Development and Learning:

    • Encourage students to take ownership of their learning and development.
    • Support the development of both technical and soft skills within the team.

  • Safety and Compliance:

    • Obtain Pennsylvania Child Abuse Clearances as required.
    • Complete the FIRST Youth Protection Program screening and training, ensuring a safe and respectful environment for all participants.

  • Support and Guidance:

    • Even if you have no prior experience, know that experienced mentors will be present at every meeting.
    • They are especially available to guide the team during the first month to six weeks of meetings, helping both coaches and students get started and develop foundational skills.

  • For Participants under the age if eighteen (18) years listed above: I am the Parent/Legal Guardian of the Participant hearby consent and agree to all the terms and conditions of this Agreement, in which case, "I" , "Me" , "My" and "Participant" as used herein shall refer to said minor Participant.

    For adult Participants, I consent and agree to all the terms and conditions of this agreement.
