Join instructor Megan Perry, at Umpqua Valley Arts' The Clay Place for this beginner ceramic class!!
Learn clay coiling techniques with instructor Megan Perry! In this class, Megan will go over how to build pots without the use of a wheel. Techniques include coiling on kick wheels, banding wheels, and pukis (a traditional shallow dish used as a base mold and turntable when handbuilding), creating a slab base and rolling snake coils, pinching/scraping/stretching techniques to adjust shape, and paddle compression techniques to strengthen pots. With these skills, students will be able to use studio time to focus on achieving their desired shape and style and get lots of practice to hone their skills.
This class is a great introductory class for beginning artists, but is open to students of all skill levels.
Suggested for students ages 15 and up, no experience is necessary. Cost of class includes all instruction and materials.
