• 2026 Light Up the Park Registration

  • How to Participate in the Contest 

    We are excited to celebrate this year’s Lone Star Christmas theme and cannot wait to see the creativity of our community shine throughout Cedar Brake Park! Decorate a light pole and help create a festive holiday experience for residents and visitors to enjoy.

    Important Dates

    • Registration Closes October 31, 2026, or when all poles have been reserved.
    • Decorating Begins: November 9, 2026
    • Judging begins November 30, 2026
    • Decorations must be removed no later than January 4, 2027. Remaining decorations may be removed and discarded.

    Light Pole Reservations

    A total of 47 light poles is available for reservation and decoration.

    • 19 Premium Poles: $25
    • 28 Standard Poles: Available at no charge

    All light poles have permanent identification markers for easy selection.

    Select your preferred available pole during registration.

    • Each pole includes an electrical outlet and one strand of clear lights.
    • Pole reservations are non-refundable and may not be canceled.

    Decorating Guidelines

    Participants may decorate their assigned light pole and the immediate area surrounding the pole. You may place a small business or organization sign near their decorated pole.

    Public Works staff will install the park’s holiday lights, garland, and Christmas trees prior to November 9. Please do not remove, relocate, or alter any City-installed decorations.

    Permitted Setup Materials

    • Non-permanent materials may be used, including:
    • Zip ties
    • Hot glue
    • Tape
    • Twine
    • Rope
    • Freestanding props
    • Other temporary, non-damaging decorating materials

    All decorations must be securely installed and must not create a safety hazard, obstruct walkways, or interfere with park operations.

    ⚠️Electricity and LightingCedar Brake Park operates on an automated lighting system. The park lights turn on automatically at dusk. Each reserved light pole includes:

    •  One electrical outlet. One strand of clear lights
    •  Please do not call to report a temporary power outage. Public Works staff inspect and monitor the park each morning and address electrical or lighting issues as needed.
