  • NOMINATION & TEAM RULES


    Competitors can enter INDIVIDUALLY or AS A TEAM.
    One nomination = one competing entry.

    ADULT TEAMS

    • Maximum 5 members per team.
    • All-male team → competes in the Adult Male Category.
    • Mixed male & female team → competes in the Adult Male Category.
    • All-female team → competes in the Adult Ladies Category.
    • No children/juniors may be included in an adult team.
    • Team Nomination: $150
    • Individual Nomination: $80

    JUNIOR TEAMS

    • Maximum 5 members per team.
    • Teams may only include competitors aged 6–16 years.
    • No Under 6 competitors may be included in a team.
    • The whole team competes in the category of the eldest team member.
    • Example: Ages 8, 10, 11 & 14 → team competes in 12–16 Years.
    • Team Nomination: $100
    • Individual Nomination (6–11 Years): $50
    • Individual Nomination (12–16 Years): $50
    • Under 6 Individual Entry: FREE


    INDIVIDUAL OR TEAM – NOT BOTH

    Competitors must choose to enter either individually OR as part of a team.
    A competitor cannot enter both and may only be listed on one nomination.
    Catches/entries from a team member count towards the team only.
    Individual competitors' catches/entries count towards their individual result only.


    PRIZES & PLACINGS

    • Teams and individuals compete for the same placings and prizes within their applicable category.
    • There are no separate team and individual prize pools.
    • A team is considered one competition entry.
    • A winning team receives the same prize that an individual winner would receive.
    • Prizes will generally not be multiplied by the number of team members.
    • If a team wins, it is up to the team to decide how the prize is shared or allocated.
    • The committee will not divide, substitute or provide additional prizes for individual team members.

    All competitors and team members must be registered and comply with the full Dirranbandi Boar Buster Terms & Conditions and Competition Rules. Team member changes after nominations close are at the discretion of the Committee.

    RULES & REGULATIONS

    EVENT DATES: 2–4 OCTOBER 2026

    The Dirranbandi Boar Buster competition officially runs from:

    • 12:00 AM FRIDAY 2 OCTOBER 2026

    • UNTIL 8:00 AM SUNDAY 4 OCTOBER 2026

    • All pigs entered must have been taken during the official competition period.

    • 8:00 AM Sunday is the final hunting cut-off.

    HUNTING & PROPERTY PERMISSION

    • Competitors must have permission to hunt on the property or properties they are hunting.

    • Hunting may take place anywhere the competitor has written or verbal permission from the landholder. Hunting is not restricted to the Dirranbandi area.

    • Landholder details may be requested by organisers to verify permission.

    • Competitors must be able to provide reasonable evidence of permission if requested.

    • Competitors must comply with all applicable Queensland laws and regulations relating to hunting, firearms, animal welfare, property access and road safety.

    ZERO TOLERANCE – TRESPASSING & POACHING

    • The Dirranbandi Boar Buster has a ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY for trespassing and poaching.

    • Any competitor caught: Trespassing; Hunting without landholder permission; Poaching; Entering private property without permission; or Breaching a landholder's conditions of access will face immediate disqualification.

    • This applies whether the offence is witnessed by a landholder, official or established beyond reasonable doubt.

    • Where appropriate, the matter may also be reported to the relevant authorities.

    • Respect landholders, respect private property and respect the privilege of having access to hunt.

    ELIGIBLE PIGS

    • Pigs entered under Nominations aged 12 years and over must weigh more than 15 kg.

    • There is no minimum size or weight requirement for Nominations aged 11 years and under.

    • Frozen pigs will NOT be accepted.

    • Domestic pigs will NOT be accepted.

    • Pigs must not be tied, trapped or otherwise artificially restrained for the purpose of capture.

    • All pigs must be fully dressed before being presented for weighing.

    • Pigs must meet all competition entry requirements at the time of weigh-in.

    • Organisers reserve the right to inspect any pig where there is a concern regarding its eligibility or compliance with the competition rules.

    WEIGH-IN TIMES

    • FRIDAY NIGHT — 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM

    • SATURDAY MORNING — 7:00 AM – 10:00 AM

    •SATURDAY NIGHT — 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM

    • SUNDAY – FINAL WEIGH-IN — ALL competitors must be lined up before 9:00 AM Sunday morning.

    • If you are not in line before 9:00 AM, you will be excluded from the competition.

    • Sunday is the final official weigh-in day. No entries will be accepted after the final cut-off.

    DAILY WEIGH-IN LIMITS:

    Friday – Maximum 30 pigs; Saturday morning – Maximum 30 pigs; Saturday night - Maximum 30 pigs; Sunday – Maximum 5 pigs.

    • Daily weigh-ins are available throughout the event but are not compulsory.

    • Once the daily weigh-in capacity has been reached, no further pigs will be accepted for that weigh-in period.

    CATEGORY ENTRIES

    • Each pig may only be entered into ONE competition category, excluding Longest Tusks.

    • Once a pig has been officially entered into a category, it CANNOT be transferred or changed to another category, except for Longest Tusks.

    • Pigs entered into the main competition cannot also be entered into the Kids Most Tails category.

    • Weight categories will be determined by kilograms (kg).

    • Tusks will be measured in millimetres (mm).

    • Organisers reserve the right to verify weights and measurements where required.

    OVERALL WEIGHT

    • Overall Weight will be calculated using the best five eligible pigs entered by competitors aged 17 years and over.

    • Kids Most Tails pigs do not count towards Overall Weight.

    • Only pigs officially weighed and accepted into the competition will contribute to Overall Weight.

    DOG & HUNTING UTE COMPETITIONS

    • Entries for the Dog Competition and Hunting Ute Competition can be made on the day.

    • Winners will be announced following the weigh-in.

    • Competitors who have entered the Boar Buster may enter the Dog and/or Hunting Ute competitions at no additional cost.

    • Non-Boar Buster competitors may enter for $20 per entry.

    • Organisers reserve the right to determine the winners of each competition.

    DOG REQUIREMENTS

    • All dogs must be secured at all times while at the event, either appropriately tied up or secured in a suitable dog box.

    • Dogs must not be left loose within the event grounds.

    • Competitors are responsible for the safety, welfare and behaviour of their dogs at all times.

    • Dogs displaying aggressive or unsafe behaviour may be required to be removed from the event grounds.

    CARCASS DISPOSAL

    • Following weigh-in, carcasses will be disposed of by the committee.

    • Competitors may take their own carcasses with them following weigh-in if they wish to do so.

    • Any carcasses left with the committee will be disposed of appropriately.

    ROAD & VEHICLE SAFETY

    • All competitors must obey Queensland road rules.

    • Speed limits must be followed at all times.

    • Vehicles must be roadworthy and operated safely.

    • Competitors are responsible for ensuring their vehicles, trailers and equipment are suitable and safely used.

    • Highway Patrol and Stocks Quad may be patrolling throughout the long weekend.

    • Unsafe or irresponsible driving may result in removal from the competition.

    COMPETITOR CONDUCT

    • All competitors are expected to:

    • Respect organisers, officials and volunteers.

    • Respect fellow competitors and spectators.

    • Respect local residents and landholders.

    • Conduct themselves in a safe and responsible manner.

    • Help leave a positive impression of the Dirranbandi community and the Boar Buster event.

    • Unsafe, aggressive, irresponsible or inappropriate behaviour may result in removal from the competition and/or disqualification.

    DISQUALIFICATION

    • A competitor may be immediately disqualified for:

    • Trespassing, poaching or hunting without landholder permission.

    • Entering an ineligible pig.

    • Providing false or misleading information.

    • Tampering with, altering or interfering with a pig or its presentation.

    • Breaching competition rules or applicable Queensland laws.

    • Unsafe, aggressive or irresponsible behaviour.

    • Missing the final Sunday weigh-in cut-off.

    • Any conduct considered detrimental to the integrity, safety or reputation of the Dirranbandi Boar Buster.

    • Entry fees will not be refunded following disqualification.

    ORGANISERS' RIGHTS & FINAL DECISIONS

    • Organisers reserve the right to inspect any pig, dog, vehicle or equipment where reasonably required to enforce competition rules.

    • Organisers may request information or evidence relating to where and how a pig was obtained.

    • Any suspect or disputed entry may be held for further inspection or investigation.

    • Organisers' decisions regarding eligibility, measurements, weights, category placement, rule breaches and disqualification are final.

    • The committee reserves the right to refuse or reject an entry where competition rules have not been met.

    ACCREDITATION

    • Accreditation is not required to enter the competition, as pigs are not being boxed.

    • All competitors must still comply with any applicable Queensland laws, regulations and animal welfare requirements.

    ACCEPTANCE OF TERMS

    • By entering the Dirranbandi Boar Buster 2026, competitors acknowledge that they have read, understood and agreed to abide by these Terms & Conditions and Rules & Regulations.

    • Failure to comply with these rules may result in disqualification without refund.

    • The Dirranbandi Boar Buster Committee reserves the right to amend, clarify or update these rules where necessary to ensure the fairness, safety and integrity of the competition.
