- The Compton Comics Expo is a family-friendly environment. Children are present. Please keep that in mind when attending the event, both in and out of cosplay.
- Harassment or hate speech of any kind is not tolerated at the Compton Comics Expo. If you are a victim of harassment or witness someone being harassed, please locate a Compton Comics Expo staff member or security right away.
- Inappropriate costumes or actions may result in a request from staff to change aspects of your costume. Failure to comply may result in your removal from the event. Refunds will not be issued for VIP ticket holders.
- Posing with attendees for photos is encouraged, but please do not block aisles, doorways, exits, or exhibitor tables. Always ask for permission before taking a photo.
- If your cosplay has large or extruding elements, please be aware of your surroundings and other attendees.
Cosplay is not consent. Always ask before touching or photographing someone's costume.
Prop Inspection
- All costume props and weapons must be inspected before entering the event.
- After inspection, props will be tagged by staff. Do not remove the tag. If the tag falls off, return to Registration immediately to have it re-evaluated. Failure to have a tag on a prop weapon may result in the prop being barred from the event.
- All costumes, props, and weapons must comply with state and federal law. Final decisions are at the discretion of Compton College Security. Their decision is final.
Allowed Props & Materials
- Acceptable materials: plastic, thermoplastic (Worbla), urethane resin, cardboard, foam, foam rubber, or other lightweight materials
- Projectile props must be rendered inoperable (prop guns, prop bows
- Prop quivers with non-removable arrows or arrows with blunt tips
- Prop guns with orange tips — except anything resembling a real or replica firearm
- Lightsabers (including metal hilts), wands, and sonic screwdrivers
- Metal lightsaber hilts no longer than 16 inches; plastic light-up blades must be off the hilt when traversing the campus and may be connected for photos, contests, etc.
- Prop swords, knives, or blades — must not be metal or have any sharp edge
- Armor and shields made of plastic, fiberglass, foam, PVC, resin, or similar material
Prohibited Props & Materials
- No real or replica firearms of any kind regardless of material — including Nerf guns, airsoft guns, blasters, and toy guns
- No real, replica, or simulated explosives, ammunition, or chemical weapons of any kind — including bombs, bullets, fireworks, grenades, or mace/pepper spray
- No metal or sharp-edged props of any material — including axes, claws, gauntlets, knives, and knuckles
- No excessively loud devices such as airhorns, bullhorns, or boomboxes
- Prohibited materials include glass, concrete, rock, and metal
