The Australian Fencing Federation is looking for expressions of interest from accredited Sabre coaches who are interested in becoming the National Assistant Coach (NAC) or a State Coach (SC) as part of the 2026/27 season (August 2026 - July 2027).
These roles form an important part of our High Performance Program (HPP) and are designed to assist our Sabre National Head Coach to implement successful programs nationally within the weapon.
Specific roles of the NAC may include:
- Directly assist the National Head Coach;
- Conduct National Program training sessions and activities across Australia;
- Attend National Training Camps;
- Support and assist with the planning and delivery of National Program training camps in collaboration with state programs and coaches;
- Work collaboratively with coaches across all states and territories to support the alignment and delivery of the National Program pathway;
- Attend international competitions as a Assistant Head Coach when required;
- Engage with the National Coach and State Coaches to assist in delivering technical, tactical, and program-specific coaching outcomes nationally;
- Engage with the High Performance Commission to support the understanding, alignment, and implementation of the High Performance Program (HPP) across all states and territories;
- Assist in building a connected national coaching environment and contribute to the development of athletes and coaches throughout Australia;
Help drive and promote positive team spirit within the sport and across the weapon discipline;
- Be open to and work collaboratively with the High Performance Commission and National Coaching staff to leverage opportunities for coaching education and continuous professional development;
- Contribute to communication, collaboration, and knowledge sharing between the National Program and state coaching networks.
The role of the State Coaches will be to assist in delivery of the program in the state which the particular coach is from.
