IN PERSON FREE WORKSHOPS AT OUR HACKENSACK CAMPUS
These are 6-hour free workshops designed to build practical skills for everyday life, work, and the community. Our English crash courses are for non-native English speakers at all levels, while the Basic Computer Skills course is open to everyone, regardless of English level or background. You must be employed for at least 20 hours per week in the State of New Jersey to be eligible for these free workshops. You just need your employer’s FEIN number, which can be found in Box B of your W-2, or you can reach out to your employer.
English for U.S. Citizenship: Prepare for the English used in the citizenship process. Students will practice key words, listening, speaking, and answering questions about personal information, U.S. history, government, and civics. The course also includes practice with questions students may hear during the citizenship exam and interview.
English for Customer Service: Learn how to communicate with customers in a clear and friendly way. Students will practice useful words and phrases for greeting customers, asking and answering questions, understanding requests, giving information, and handling common concerns. These skills can be used right away on the job.
English for the Workplace: Improve your English for everyday conversations at work. Students will practice useful workplace words and phrases for talking with coworkers and supervisors, following directions, asking questions, discussing schedules, and handling common workplace situations.
Basic Computer Skills: Build essential computer skills for everyday life, work, and the community. Students will learn how to use a computer, navigate the desktop, work with files and folders, use a keyboard and mouse, browse the internet, send and receive email, and use common computer programs. No previous computer experience is required. This workshop is open to everyone, not just English language learners.
You can only register for one course at a time. After you submit your first registration, click the back button to register for additional courses. If you work at least 20 hours per week for a New Jersey-based employer who pays state taxes, you are eligible to take these classes.
All classes will be held at the Phillip Ciraco Learning Center - 355 Main St, Hackensack, NJ 07601
