Improper interference with another person's ability to participate in or perform their role is not tolerated.
  • 6. NONDISCRIMINATION & ANTI-HARASSMENT POLICY:

  • Volunteers may learn or have access to confidential or sensitive information about PROPEL students, families, employees, volunteers, donors, partners or organizational operations. Confidential information must not be disclosed to relatives, friends, business associates, professional associates or any other person unless PROPEL has authorized the disclosure or disclosure is required by law.
  • Volunteers are expected to use professionalism, good judgment and care to prevent unauthorized or inadvertent disclosures. Confidential materials should not be left visible or unattended and confidential information should not be shared through personal social media, text messages, email or other channels unless authorized for PROPEL business.
  • At the end of volunteer service, all PROPEL documents, records, materials, keys, devices and other items containing or providing access to confidential information must be returned or handled as directed by PROPEL.
  • 8. GENERAL WAIVER, RELEASE & ASSUMPTION OF RISK:

  • In consideration of being permitted to volunteer with PROPEL, Inc. ("PROPEL"), I voluntarily agree to the following:
  • Volunteer Activities. I understand that volunteer activities may include, depending on assignment, assisting in classrooms and programs, mentoring or tutoring students, participating in special events and fundraisers, preparing or serving food, carrying or lifting items, transportation-related activities and other activities relevant to PROPEL programs.
  • Assumption of Risk. I understand that volunteer activities may involve ordinary risks, including but not limited to lifting, carrying, transportation, event participation and working in active program environments. I voluntarily assume the risks associated with my participation to the extent permitted by law.
  • Release and Waiver. To the fullest extent permitted by law, I release and hold harmless PROPEL, its directors, officers, employees, agents, representatives, volunteers, sponsors, successors and assigns from claims arising from my volunteer participation, except to the extent a claim cannot lawfully be released or is caused by conduct for which a release is prohibited by law.
  • Medical Treatment. If I require emergency first aid or medical attention while volunteering and I am unable to provide consent, I authorize PROPEL to seek reasonable emergency assistance on my behalf. I understand that I am responsible for my own medical expenses and insurance coverage.
  • Personal Property. I understand that PROPEL is not responsible for loss of or damage to my personal property, including but not limited to handbags, phones, eyeglasses and vehicles, except as otherwise required by law.
  • Insurance. I understand that PROPEL does not provide health, medical or disability insurance for volunteers unless specifically stated otherwise in writing.
  • 9. PHOTO, VIDEO & AUDIO RELEASE:

  • I grant PROPEL permission to photograph, record or otherwise capture my image, voice and participation during PROPEL activities and to use those materials for lawful organizational purposes, including program documentation, education, fundraising, marketing, social media and community outreach, without compensation to me. I understand that PROPEL may editor combine such materials with other content.
    If you do not consent to this release, please indicate below so PROPEL staff can discuss appropriate accommodations before volunteer service begins.

  • Why PROPEL screens volunteers: Because PROPEL is a youth-serving organization, background screening may be required as part of the volunteer application and placement process to help protect our students, families, staff, visitors and fellow volunteers.
