A General Approach to the Radiograph of Upper and Lower Extremities
An NPAM continuing educational event presented by Dr. Yi Yan, an accomplished Assistant Professor in the Department of Radiology at the University of Manitoba, who completed a specialized one-year MSK Fellowship at Western University in June 2024.
Dr. Yan has built a strong foundational career in medical imaging even before undertaking his medical residency and fellowship training. He served as a full time sonographer at the St. Boniface Hospital for over 5 years and obtained a PhD degree at CancerCare Manitoba.
OBJECTIVES:
Discuss a general approach to the radiograph of upper and lower extremity
• Outline fracture description terminology
• Review radiographic anatomy of shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand, knee, ankle and hip
• Discuss key items to assess on radiographs of the upper and lower extremities
• Review ten example cases of upper and lower extremity pathology that highlight some important concepts (interactive session)
