Thank you for your interest in adopting a bird from my rescue! Please understand that a completed application does not guarantee approval of adoption, but I do consider every applicant and will do my best to reach out and chat with you regardless of approval! Please answer every question below to the best of your ability. If you need help or would like more education on a topic, please indicate that in your response and I am happy to work with you! A lack of experience or knowledge does not bar you from adoption, just helps me know what information you will need.

In the event that you are unable to keep a bird that you adopt from us, we require that the bird is returned to us rather than rehomed randomly or sold. If we are at capacity and cannot accept a returned bird, we require approval of selected adopter that you choose, or we can facilitate the search for an adopter. Please note that the rescue is based in Akron, Ohio. In most cases, I will ask you to meet me in or around Akron to adopt a bird. I do not ship and will usually not travel more than 30 minutes to meet you. Do you understand and agree to this rule?

Summit Aviary charges a small rehoming fee for our adoptable birds. This fee allows us to keep the lights on and keep helping more birds. We will never ask you for a deposit or for you to send money to "reserve" a bird - payment can be given in cash when you adopt, or sent through a payment app at that time. The adoption fees are as follows: Pigeons & Doves: $20 for a single bird, $30 for a pair (bonded or just two available single birds), $30 for hand-raised babies. Starlings: $30 Sparrows: $20 Birds not listed will have fees decided on a case-by-case basis. Do you understand and agree to pay the relevant adoption fee?
