    Join Cat Action Team (CAT), Companion Animal Fund (CAF), and Old Dominion Animal Hospital (ODAH) to help operate another successful spay & neuter clinic - our goal is 80 cats!

    Date: Saturday, October 10th, 2026

    Time: Approximately 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM (time frame can vary)

    Location: Old Dominion Animal Hospital Charlottesville (811 Preston Avenue)

    Volunteer Information:

    • Volunteers will be assigned to a specific station and provided instructions
    • On the day of the clinic, cats will arrive in traps between 7:00-8:00 AM with the goal of having the first surgeries begin at 8:00 AM
    • Volunteer shift start and end times will be based on this timeline
    • Breakfast, lunch, and refreshments will be provided for all volunteers
    • Station assignments and shift instructions / details will be shared approximately one week prior to the clinic date
    • Please understand that sign-up preference will be given to volunteers who are able to commit to a full clinic day; we have had challenges scheduling half-day volunteers.

  • The below lists the clinic volunteer station assignments and their brief descriptions. You will be assigned to a station based on prior experience and performance ability.

      Intake Complete intake paperwork & assign/ID traps
     * Anesthesia Tech Dose & administer anesthesia (LVTs or DVMs only)
      Anesthesia Asst Support anesthesia technician
     * Bladder Express Remove cats from traps & express bladders
     * Surgery Prep Shave & sterilize cats for surgery
     * Surgery Perform sterilization surgery (LVTs and DVMs only)
     * Vaccine Tech Administer vaccines (LVTs or DVMs only)
      Vaccine Asst Support vaccine technician
     * Fluids & Meds Administer subcutaneous fluids & topical medication
      Recovery Monitor cats coming out of anesthesia
      Instrument Cleaning Clean & repack soiled surgery instruments
      Rabies Recorder Scribe vaccine records
      Trap Cleaning Clean soiled traps
      Discharge Complete discharge paperwork & discharge cats
      Transporter Transports cats and/or traps station to station

    Stations that require prior experience are noted with an asterisk (*).

    The below are volunteer tasks that we also need help with:

    • Food/refreshment pickup & setup
    • Laundry, during and after the clinic
    • End of day clean-up
