• Maryland Centers for Creative Classrooms: Arts Education Through a Trauma-Informed Lens

  • Participants will explore how trauma connects to brain theory, and how educators can use arts-based approaches to help students feel safe, engaged, and ready to learn. Together, we’ll connect key trauma-informed principles to practical strategies for classroom structure, curriculum design, and facilitation. Reflective writing, sample tools, and small-group discussions will support participants in applying these theories directly to their teaching practice.

    • October 21, 2026, 4:00 - 7:00 pm

    Spring Course Dates:

    • March 8, 2027, 4:00 - 7:00 pm
    • March 9, 2027, 4:00 - 7:00 pm
    • March 10, 2027, 4:00 - 7:00 pm

    All sessions will be virtual

    This course will be limited to 24 participants. All interested participants must submit an application by September 30, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. to be considered for this cohort. Submitting this form does not guarantee acceptance to the course.

    Successful completion of Maryland Centers for Creative Classrooms: Arts Education through a Trauma-Informed Lens makes you eligible to receive PDP(s) upon completion.
