Lake City Playhouse Homeschool Youth Company

Lake City Playhouse Homeschool Youth Company
Confidence.Community.Creativity

A five-month homeschool theater program where students 8-14 learn acting, technical theater, design and production while working together to stage a full production of Charlotte's Web. Program starts October 8th. We will meet Thursdays 12:00-3:00pm.

Theater is a team sport!

Because our goal is for students to build a community through preparing for a full production, families commit to the entire five-month season. Consistent attendance is essential to the success of the company.

Why choose theater?

Confidence - Children learn to speak clearly, perform in front of others and become comfortable taking risks in a safe, supportive envireonment.

Community - Homeschooling can sometimes make it difficult to find consistent peer communities. This program aims to create just that!

Creativity - In this space children are given a space to create, not just consume!

Academic Connection - Theater naturally incorporates literature, writing, history, art, music, public speaking, collaboration, project management and problem solving.

Kindness First

At Lake City Playhouse, we believe in 'Kindness First'. We strive to create a welcoming, inclusive, respectful, and encouraging environment where every student can learn, grow and discover the joy of theatre. We ask every family to support these values throughout the program.

Liability Release - I understand that participation in theater activities may involve physical movement, dancing, lifting, climbing stairs, set construction, rehearsal activities, stage combat (when applicable), and other activities that carry an inherent risk of injury. I voluntarily allow my child to participate in the Lake City Playhouse Homeschool Theatre Program. I agree to release, indemnify, and hold harmless Lake City Playhouse, it's Board of Directors, employees, instructors, volunteers, and representatives from any claims, injuries, damages, or liabilities arising from participation, except in cases of gross negligence or willful misconduct.
