If you answered Yes to two or more questions, it may be worth exploring your child's feeding difficulties further. A Yes to several questions, particularly where restricted eating is having a significant impact on nutrition, wellbeing or daily life, may indicate that an ARFID assessment could be appropriate.
These questions cannot diagnose ARFID. A formal diagnosis requires a comprehensive clinical assessment that considers your child's feeding history, psychological presentation, nutritional status, functional impact and other possible explanations for their eating difficulties.
At Nourish Feeding Therapy, our multidisciplinary ARFID Assessment Diagnosis Pathway combines assessment by a psychologist and specialist paediatric dietitian to provide a comprehensive understanding of your child's feeding presentation and determine whether an ARFID diagnosis is appropriate.
