    Purpose

    To spread awareness of Onigiri Action to deliver more school meals to children in need.  

     

    How It Works 

    Each college group posts photos / reels of onigiri on Instagram with the following hashtags:

    • #OnigiriAction
    • #InterCollege_OA
    • #〇〇University (College/University name)

    OR

    • you can post the photos/ reels on our campaign website. 

    *Photos can be posted on anyone's Instagram as long as the posts have the above hashtags.
    *Photos can be posted with the above hashtags on the campaign webiste if you prefer.
    **Photos can include actual onigiri, onigiri drawings, or onigiri poses, such as making a triangle shape with your hands.
    ***We will select the winning groups who will receive a certificate from the TFT Secretariat.

    Requirements for Participation

    • This event is open to undergraduate and graduate students at colleges in the United States.
    • Each group must have at least one Instagram account.
    • Groups should consist of at least five members. If your group has fewer than five, please reach out to us using the contact information below.
    • Each college should have one group that participates. In the event more than one group wants to participate from the same school, we will contact your groups to discuss how to proceed.

    While about 750 million go hungry, 2.5 billion suffer from health issues related to unhealthy eating. TABLE OR TWO USA (TFT USA), 501(c)(3) non profit organization seeks to change both issues by educating about healthy eating practices and providing healthy school meals to those in need. TABLE FOR TWO started in Japan and expanded globally. As one of the most well-known NPOs in Japan, a country noted for the longevity of its people, TFT USA promotes Japanese healthy eating culture and has started the unique programs, "Onigiri Action" and "Wa-Sho -Learn. Cook. Eat Japanese!-" featuring Japanese food culture to tackle on the critical health issues.

    What is Onigiri Action?

    When you post an Onigiri (rice ball) related photo on your social media with #OnigiriAction or TFT's global campaign site, our generous partners will donate to deliver 5 school meals to children in need around the world! World Food Day on October 16 was established by the United Nations as a day for everyone to think about food problems in the world. To celebrate World Food Day, TABLE FOR TWO (TFT) holds "Onigiri Action" with the goal to deliver 1 million meals to children in need every year. TFT first started in Japan featuring onigiri (riceballs), which celebrate rice as one of the major Japanese agricultural products, and showcases the Japanese tradition of making onigiri for loved ones.
