2026 - 2027

The Iona University Science and Technology Entry Program (STEP) Math & Science Academy will begin in October 2026 and will meet on alternate Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. through May 2027. Please note that new student enrollment will not take place in January 2027.

The Math & Science Academy provides students with rigorous academic enrichment and support in mathematics, science, and other STEM-related areas throughout the academic year.

Important Application Information

• Please complete the application using a desktop or laptop computer. The application is lengthy and requires several documents and detailed responses. Completing it on a computer is strongly recommended to ensure that all sections are completed accurately and all required documents are uploaded successfully.
• Incomplete applications will not be considered. Please answer all questions thoroughly and accurately and upload all required supporting documentation before submitting your application.
• Please review your application carefully before submitting it. Missing information or documents may result in your application being deemed incomplete.
• There is no cost to apply to the program.
• Enrollment is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Submission of an application does not guarantee acceptance into the program.

Important Eligibility Update (For New Applicants Only)

Please be advised that there have been changes to the eligibility criteria for the STEP program. Beginning with the 2025–2026 academic year, STEP eligibility is determined solely by indicators of economic disadvantage, in accordance with New York State and federal income guidelines. Race, ethnicity, and historically underrepresented minority status are no longer considered criteria for determining eligibility.

We strongly encourage families to review the eligibility requirements and ensure that all required information and documentation are provided before submitting the application. Information is available at www.iona.edu/step.

Student Essay

This section must be completed by the student. The essay is required for application consideration. Incomplete essays will result in an incomplete application and will not be considered.

Student Schedule Information

Please select the Math and Science courses that most closely match the core Math and Science courses your student will be enrolled in at their school during the 2026–2027 academic year.

If your student’s course schedule is not yet available, please select “This information is not available to me yet.” If your student is accepted into the program, you will be asked to submit a Course Enrollment Form, which will be sent to families on September 7, 2026.

Please note: Only the Math and Science courses listed below will be offered through STEP. If your student’s course is not listed, they may be assigned to an alternate learning activity during that session.

STEP also offers two elective courses: Engineering and Technology.

Please select ONE elective below. While we will make every effort to honor your selection, elective courses have limited capacity and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Your selection is for planning purposes only and does not guarantee placement in your preferred elective.
