35mm Auditions 2026

AUDITION INFO:

Date: September 12th

Time: 10AM - 5PM

Location: Perko Blackbox Theater (inside the Waldner Performing Arts Center). Enter through the main entrance on the top floor and follow signs for auditions.

10-2: Vocal Ensemble Auditions. Prepare 32 bars (or 1 min) of a song, preferably from the show.

3-4: Dance Ensemble Auditions. Come prepared to move.

4-5: Vocal Audition Callbacks. Callback lists will come out by 3pm

Vocal Audition Appointment

35mm is a collabrative multimedia song cycle with music Ryan Scott Oliver that corespond with images by Matthew Murphy. The show delves into themes of artistry, religion, queer identity, and violence, while also having moments of comedy to keep the tone light.

Our production specifically will incorporate movement and choreography, as opposed to the typical concert style presentation.

There will be two main ensembles, the vocal ensemble and the movement/dance ensemble. For the majority of the show, these ensembles will remain seperate, contingent on the number of cast members. It is recommended to audition for both!

Show Dates: November 20th-22nd in Gallery Hall at Marketview Arts in downtown York

Tech Week: November 16th-19th

Have a 32-bar (or 1 min) cut of a song prepared for music auditions. You are welcomed (and encouraged!) to select a song from the show, but not required. Suggested cuts are here
This show will use genderblind casting, and many songs are provided in multiple keys. To that end, feel free to pick any of the reahearsal cuts that you feel fit your voice.
If you do not sing one of these cuts, you may be asked to sing one of them during callbacks.

Walk-ins are welcome.
Video auditions welcome
- Video auditions are open and can be submitted through this form.
- Video auditions close the 12th at 2pm.
