  • Dear Artists,

  • We at the Gallery of Caribbean Art extend an invitation to you, to participate in our upcoming exhibition, "Barbadian Animals: Life's Tiles", a fundraising exhibition in collaboration with Ocean Acres Animal Sanctuary, in October, 2026.

  • The exhibition, celebrating the animals of Barbados, will serve as a fundraiser for Ocean Acres, helping them continue their work supporting animals, while bringing together artists, animal lovers and the wider community. Hence, 20% of proceeds in sales of each piece will go towards the Sanctuary.

  • The commission structure breakdown for this specific exhibition, will be as follows:

    Artist                                          45 percent
    Gallery                                       25 percent
    VAT                                              5 percent
    Credit Card                                 5 percent

  • The event will be in coordination with World Animal Day, of which Ocean Acres Animal Sanctuary is an ambassador.
     
    Registration for the show opens 17th of August, 2026, and closes on 16th of September, 2026.

  • The show opens on Saturday, 10th of October, and will run through to the 24th of October, 2026.

  • The pieces submitted will have no size restriction.

  • Mediums accepted include: Acrylic, Watercolour, Oil, Pastels, Mixed Media, Charcoal, Mosaics, Weaving, Clay/Wood/Metalwork Sculptures and Sculpted Relief artwork, Photography and Digital Art. 

    IN REGARDS TO DIGITAL ART, NO AI GENERATED IMAGERY WILL BE ACCEPTED.

  • Artists can submit up to 3 pieces each. All details of each piece must be submitted via the Application Form below only.

  • Kindly note all works must be brought into the Gallery by the 7th of October, 2026. Pieces will be reviewed upon receipt. All works must be wired and ready to be hung when brought in, with details (name of artist, title of work, size of work, medium) written on the back of each piece.

  • The theme of the exhibition is "Barbadian Animals: Life's Tiles". As explained by Ocean Acres Founder, Karen Whittaker,

  • "Life's Tiles" is a playful take on "lifestyles," inviting artists to capture the personalities, behaviours and everyday lives of Barbadian creatures great and small. Artists will be encouraged to interpret the theme creatively using a variety of artistic styles and media...becoming a "tile" in a larger celebration of Barbados' animal life".

  • Artists may also use as inspiration, the theme of World Animal Day 2026, “seeing the world through their eyes”.

  • All works must adhere to the themes given in this letter.
