Discipleship Group Sign Up Spring 2026

Discipleship Groups at FirstSF are a dedicated space for us to grow deeper in our discipleship in Christ within the church community. The goal of our DGs is that each member would more deeply know Christ, others and themselves, that they might more holistically follow and obey Christ. Our DGs hope to accomplish this by fostering a space of deep life examination and sharing, confession of sins, accountability to others, and prayer. 

For our Fall 2026 round of DGs, we will be going through a curriculum on prayer, titled "Living Like Monks, Praying Like Fools." Prayer is frequently talked of as a central spiritual discipline to the Christian life, yet it is one we often struggle the most with. This 5-week video and workbook curriculum walks through the Lord's Prayer in depth, and will lead us through some practical tools to grow in prayerful devotion.

Since this curriculum is significantly shorter than previous DG rounds, hopefully this will allow your groups more time to spend in prayer together, with some flexibility to meet for dedicated times of sharing and prayer beyond the video series.

The deadline to sign up for the 2026 Round 2 of DGs is Sunday, September 20th.

Each DG will be made up of 3–5 members of the same gender. DGs will meet every 1 to 2 weeks to go through a set curriculum (approximately 5–7 sessions) for the duration of 2–3 months, for 60–90 mins each session. DGs will decide together the time and setting of their meetings (this could be a mix of in person or Zoom, but should have at least some meetings in person). After each round of DGs ends, members have the option to opt in to another round of curriculum together or separately.

Each DG member will be expected to complete the necessary pre-work and curriculum prior to each meeting so they can meaningfully share with the group. By signing up for DGs, you are also committing to growing with those you are in community with. This means showing up ready to share, but equally ready to listen. It means coming with a heart of grace and patience for others in your group. And it requires honesty to confess openly with your group.

For these above reasons, you are encouraged to sign up with members you are already in Community Group with to help facilitate deeper relationships and growth together. If you already have 3–5 people you want to form a DG with, you can indicate the names of those people on this form. However, if there are others you would prefer to be in a group with, or if you do not have enough people interested in a group in your CG, you can sign up with 1–2 others, or even sign up as an individual and we can help place you in a DG. (There is also an option if you are part of a DG that has already completed one round, but would like to continue together for a second round.)

If you are signing up with other members to join a DG with, you can indicate the names and emails of those people below. You can sign up with up to four other members, but you may also sign up with only one or two others. 

Only one form needs to be completed by all members signing up together.
