The Beginning of God's Story—and Yours
Genesis: From Creation to Covenant is an eight-session study exploring how the first book of the Bible lays the foundation for the entire story of salvation. This is a new study from Ascension.
The book of Genesis tells how Creation was born from God’s infinite love and goodness, the chaos brought by the Fall, and the covenant promises that move salvation history forward. Through some of the most well-known and beloved stories in Scripture—including Adam and Eve, Noah and the Ark, the Tower of Babel, Abraham, Jacob, and Joseph—God initiates his plan to restore what was lost.
Guided by Jeff Cavins and Dr. Scott Powell, this study shows how God works through every generation and covenant promise to draw his people back into relationship with him and prepare the way for our salvation, a plan that continues to unfold in our lives today.
This 8-week study is at the Our Lady of La Salette Parish Activities Building, 2599 Harvard Road in Berkley. It starts on October 6, 2026 and runs each Tuesday at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. until November 24, 2026. ZOOM access is also available.
The fee is $25 for the workbook. If you wish to also purchase your own online access to the videos for a year, you can pay an additional $5. If you Zoom in, you do not have to purchase this as we will show the video to all during each meeting.
Workbooks are provided before the study begins. If you attend in person, the workbooks are provided at the first class. If joining us by Zoom, we will mail it to you.
For each session, there is discussion of readings and questions, and a 25-30 minute video. There are readings in the Bible each week of the class. Classes last about 1 ½ to 2 hours. No reading is required before the first class.
You will need to have or have access to a Catholic Bible. Some lessons also include citations for the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
