RULES, REGULATIONS & INDEMNITY

PLEASE NOTE FK Wild Fishing Resort accepts no responsibility or liability for any injury, death, loss or damage of whatsoever nature arising from entering or using the premises of FK Wild Fishing Resort. IMPORTANT SAFETY & SECURITY NOTICE Please be aware that incidents of petty theft may occur from time to time around Roodekoppies Dam. This is not limited to FK Wild Fishing Resort and may occur in areas surrounding the dam. • Keep cell phones, wallets, tablets, laptops, cameras, handbags and other valuables locked inside your vehicle and out of sight, particularly at night. • Do not leave valuables in your tent, under mattresses or in tent side pockets or bags. • Firearms must be handled and stored strictly in accordance with applicable South African law. Keep vehicle keys and other important personal items secure. • Campers are encouraged to use appropriate lighting and/or motion alarms around their camping area as an additional security precaution. • Please report suspicious activity to management immediately. BEWARE OF CROCODILES, HIPPOS AND SNAKES SWIMMING AND WATER SPORTS ARE STRICTLY PROHIBITED. GENERAL RESORT RULES 1. PROHIBITED VEHICLES & CRAFT Drones, quad bikes, motorcycles, off-road recreational vehicles and jet skis are not permitted within the resort unless specifically authorised by management. 2. NO RADIOS OR EXCESSIVE NOISE Radios and amplified music are not permitted. Please respect other guests and maintain a peaceful environment at all times. 3. BOAT REQUIREMENTS Boats and watercraft must comply with all applicable legal and safety requirements. Where a skipper's licence, Certificate of Fitness (COF), buoyancy certificate or other documentation is legally required, valid documentation must be available for inspection. Please also refer to the Boats & Watercraft Rules below. 4. NO-WAKE ZONE Boat skippers must show consideration for bank anglers and other water users. A 150-metre no-wake zone from the bank applies and must be strictly observed. 5. WATERCRAFT SAFETY Canoes, inflatable boats and small boats used for taking out fishing lines may only be operated in accordance with the watercraft rules. Life jackets must be worn where required, and appropriate lighting must be used when operating at night where night-time use is permitted. 6. TREES & FIREWOOD The collection of firewood is prohibited. Do not cut, break, damage or remove trees, branches, plants or other natural vegetation. 7. NO LITTERING Littering is strictly prohibited. All rubbish and waste must be placed in suitable refuse bags supplied by yourself and removed when you leave the resort. Please leave your campsite clean and tidy. 8. SWIMMING & WATER SPORTS Swimming and recreational water sports are strictly prohibited. Crocodiles and hippos are present in the dam. 9. WATER, DAM & WEATHER CONDITIONS Management cannot control water levels, water quality, aquatic vegetation, dam conditions or weather conditions. No refunds will be given due to weather, water levels, water conditions, aquatic vegetation or other natural conditions beyond management's control. 10. ABLUTIONS & DRINKING WATER There are no dedicated ablution facilities or potable drinking-water facilities at FK Wild Fishing Resort. Guests must bring sufficient drinking water for the duration of their stay and should bring their own portable toilet where necessary. Guests may use the designated toilet and ablution facilities at Roodekoppies Hengeloord, where permitted by management. DO NOT USE THE BUSH AS A TOILET. Guests may not enter or use Water Affairs facilities, take water from Water Affairs, or travel through the Water Affairs resort/property to gain access to FK Wild Fishing Resort unless specifically authorised. 11. GATE TIMES Gate times must be strictly observed: 06:00 - 18:00. The gate will only be opened outside normal operating hours in the case of a genuine emergency. 12. PROOF OF PAYMENT Your receipt or proof of payment must be available for inspection at all times. 13. WILDLIFE Remember that you are in a natural bush environment. Snakes and other wildlife may be encountered from time to time. Guests must remain alert and exercise appropriate caution. 14. WEAPONS & WILDLIFE Slingshots, air guns, crossbows and similar devices are prohibited. No animal, bird, reptile or other wildlife may be intentionally harmed, caught, chased, harassed or disturbed. 15. FISHING MARKERS All fishing markers and other equipment placed in the water must be removed before leaving the resort. 16. DIGGING & FIRES Digging holes is prohibited unless specifically authorised by management. Fires are only permitted in a designated boma or braai stand. All campfires and braai fires must be completely extinguished with water before leaving the campsite or going to bed for the evening. Never leave a fire unattended. All anglers are responsible for ensuring that all fires are fully extinguished and completely dead before leaving their campsite or retiring for the night. 17. SPEED LIMIT The maximum speed limit within the resort is 20 km/h. Reckless, dangerous or negligent driving will not be tolerated. 18. DRIVER'S LICENCES All persons driving motor vehicles within the resort must hold a valid driver's licence applicable to the vehicle being driven. 19. NO-FISHING ZONES No fishing line may be cast, placed or dropped into any designated NO-FISHING ZONE. 20. RESTRICTED AREAS Areas that have been fenced, cordoned off, marked as restricted or closed by management may not be entered. 21. ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT & PUMPS No unauthorised person may open, interfere with, tamper with or operate any electrical distribution box, electrical equipment, pump or other resort infrastructure. 22. DOGS Large or aggressive dogs are not permitted. Small dogs, no larger than approximately the size of a Jack Russell, may be permitted subject to management's discretion. Dogs must remain under the owner's control and within the owner's campsite at all times, may not enter neighbouring campsites, stands or fishing pegs, and may not cause a nuisance, disturbance or danger. The owner remains fully responsible for the behaviour of the dog. 23. RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR GROUP The person responsible for paying the entry or accommodation fees must ensure that every member of their party is aware of and complies with these rules. 24. SECURITY Guests are reminded that petty theft may occur from time to time around the dam. Please secure all valuables and personal belongings, especially at night. 25. MANAGEMENT & STAFF INSTRUCTIONS All reasonable safety, operational and access instructions issued by FK Wild Fishing Resort management or authorised staff must be complied with. 26. REPORTING RULE VIOLATIONS Please report serious violations of these rules or suspicious behaviour to 078 144 9823. 27. REFUNDS & TRANSFERS NO REFUNDS will be issued if a guest chooses or is required to leave the resort before the end of the period paid for, subject to applicable law. Payments and bookings are not transferable unless approved by management. 28. ACCEPTANCE OF RULES By entering the resort and/or making payment, guests acknowledge that they have been given access to these rules and agree to comply with them. 29. DRINKING WATER Please ensure that you bring sufficient drinking water for your entire stay. BOATS & WATERCRAFT RULES These rules must be read together with the general FK Wild Fishing Resort Rules & Regulations. All boats, watercraft, skippers and operators must comply with applicable South African legislation and the requirements of the relevant authorities, including SAMSA and the Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS), where applicable. No boat or watercraft may be launched or operated from FK Wild Fishing Resort unless it complies with all applicable safety and legal requirements. SPECIMEN FISHING BOATS 1. The boat must carry an appropriate anchor with a rope of at least 9 metres in length. 2. A suitable DCP fire extinguisher must be carried on board when the boat is powered by a petrol engine. 3. A suitable bailing bucket or other appropriate means of removing water must be carried. 4. The boat must have two suitable oars/paddles available. 5. All persons on board must wear an appropriate, properly fitted life jacket while the boat is being operated. 6. When a boat is legally permitted to operate in low-light or night-time conditions, it must display the required lighting and remain clearly visible to other water users. 7. Petrol motors used on specimen fishing boats at the resort may not exceed 15 HP, unless otherwise specifically authorised by management and legally permitted. 8. Boat operators must at all times exercise caution and consideration towards bank anglers and other water users. 9. The 150-metre no-wake zone from the bank must be observed. BOATS WITH ENGINES EXCEEDING 15 HP 1. Have a valid Hull Buoyancy Certificate. 2. Have a valid Certificate of Fitness (COF). 3. Display a valid registration number as legally required. 4. Carry all compulsory safety equipment prescribed by the relevant authorities. 5. The skipper must hold the appropriate valid Certificate of Competence (COC) where legally required. 6. Boats may not operate on the water outside legally permitted hours. Resort-specific operating times may also apply. 7. Boats may not anchor on the dam for the purpose of sleeping or overnight accommodation. 8. Children under 12 years of age and persons who cannot swim must wear an appropriate life jacket at all times while on board. 9. There must be an appropriate life jacket available for every person on board, and life jackets must be worn whenever required by law or these resort rules. 10. Where required by management, the launching register must be completed and signed before launching. 11. The skipper remains responsible for the boat, passengers, safety equipment and compliance with all applicable regulations. CANOES 1. A suitable bailing device must be carried where applicable. 2. Every user must wear an appropriate life jacket while on the water. 3. A whistle or other suitable signalling device must be carried. 4. Canoes are not permitted on the water at night. 5. Canoes must have suitable and serviceable paddles/oars. 6. Canoe users must remain aware of motorised boats, weather conditions, crocodiles, hippos and other potential hazards. CROCODILE & HIPPO WARNING EXTREME CAUTION MUST BE EXERCISED AROUND THE WATER Crocodiles and hippos are present in Roodekoppies Dam. Do not swim in the dam and do not unnecessarily enter the water. Children must be properly supervised by a responsible adult when near the water. Never approach, feed, disturb or attempt to interact with crocodiles, hippos or any other wildlife. INDEMNITY & ACKNOWLEDGEMENT All persons entering or using FK Wild Fishing Resort must familiarise themselves with these rules and any applicable indemnity requirements. Where requested by management, guests must sign the applicable Rules & Indemnity Acknowledgement before entering, camping, fishing, launching a boat or using resort facilities. DISCLAIMER – LOSS, DAMAGE, INJURY & PERSONAL PROPERTY To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, FK Wild Fishing Resort and the Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS), including their respective representatives, officials, employees and authorised personnel, accept no responsibility or liability for any loss of or damage to personal property, vehicles, boats, fishing equipment, camping equipment or other belongings, or for any injury, death, theft, accident or other loss occurring during a guest’s visit to or stay at FK Wild Fishing Resort at Roodekoppies Dam, except to the extent that such liability cannot lawfully be excluded. Guests enter and use the resort, dam and associated facilities at their own risk and remain responsible for safeguarding their own persons, property and equipment. FAILURE TO COMPLY Any person who seriously disregards these rules, behaves dangerously, threatens the safety or enjoyment of other guests, damages property or wildlife, or refuses to comply with a lawful and reasonable instruction from management may be required to leave the resort. Where a guest is removed from the resort for breaching the rules, no refund will be provided, subject to applicable law.
