SAE/Ag Science Project Grant In Memory of Jonah Matthews

The Monroe County Farm Bureau Young Leader Committee lost one of its own in a tragic accident on June 14, 2019. Jonah Matthews was dearly loved and is missed by all. In his honor, the committee established the Jonah K. Matthews Scholarship Fund to reward young people who share his passion for agriculture.
Applications are due on September 15, 2026.
This grant is awarded to cover the expense of materials needed to complete a successful SAE project or an Ag Science project.

Applicants must be 2nd year FFA members at a Monroe County school or be a Monroe County resident and enrolled in FFA during the 2026-2027 academic year.

Grants will be awarded in amounts ranging from $50-$250. Grants cover the expense of materials used to complete SAE or Ag Science projects. Examples include but are not limited to: livestock care and show materials (cages, halters, bottles, etc.), display boxes, and vegetable seeds. Purchasing an animal, feed, hay, and bedding will not be reimbursed by the grant.

Students will be notified if they receive the grant by October 1st. Receipts must be sent to mcfarm@htc.net by December 15th to receive payment.
