The Society for Developmental Biology will again host its signature New Faculty Boot Camp (NFBC) workshop blended-learning course this year. The course will have six sessions and meet once every two weeks between September and December 2026. Specific meeting times TBD after the cohort is set.
The NFBC is designed primarily for pre-tenure faculty within their first three years of starting their position and advanced postdoctoral fellows about to enter their first academic position. To qualify for this course, you need to have a position or offer(s) in hand.
Course participants will learn how to (1) plan for success; (2) develop as leaders; (3) manage their time, projects, and people; (4) find and secure funding, and (5) grow as teachers and mentors. One of the main goals of this course is to foster a supportive community of practice, building relationships with colleagues going through the same or similar experiences.
If you have any questions about the New Faculty Boot Camp, please contact courses@sdbonline.org with the subject line NFBC. Applications will be reviewed after this call closes on September 9, 2026 (11:59 PM ET).
Only complete applications will be reviewed, and it is the applicant's responsibility to ensure the completeness of the application.
