  • We are so excited to host the Highland Dance Competition at the McMinnville Scottish Festival again this year! 

     

    ** Competition Registration Deadline is Saturday, September 26th, 2026**

  • Competition Details

  • Competition Date: Saturday Oct 3rd and Sunday Oct 4th, 2026

    **Start Time 11:00am Saturday and Sunday**

    Judge: Megan Ashworth

    Piper: Drew Bacon

    Location: Yamhill County Fairgrounds, 2070 NE Lafayette Ave, McMinnville, Oregon 97128. Parking at event will be $5, payable by cash only.

    Saturday Dance Schedule: 

    • Primary: 16 Pas De Basque, Pas De Basque & Highcuts, Fling, Sword
    • Beginner: Fling (4), Sword (2&1), Seann Triubhas (3&1), Trophy Fling (4)
    • Novice: Fling (4), Sword (2&1), Seann Triubhas (3&1), Trophy Fling (4)
    • Intermediate: Fling (4), Sword (2&1), Seann Triubhas (3&1), Half Tulloch
    • Premier: Fling (4), Seann Triubhas (3&1), Half Tulloch, Laddie (4)

    Medals will be awarded to Pre-Premier dancers and Premier dancers. Dancers in the oldest Premier group will receive cash awards. 1st - $30, 2nd - $25, 3rd - $20, 4th - $15, 5th - $10, 6th - $5

    Sunday Dance Schedule:

    • Primary: 16 Pas De Basque, Pas De Basque & Highcuts, Fling, Sword
    • Beginner: Lilt (4), Flora (4)
    • Novice: Lilt (4), Flora (4)
    • Intermediate: Lilt (4), Flora (4), Hornpipe (4)
    • Premier: Lilt (4), Blue Bonnets (4), Village Maid (4), Hornpipe (4)
    • Solo Choreography - Sunday ONLY - Open to Pre-Premier & Premier Dancers. 3 mins max. Must have Celtic theme and use Highland/National movements.

    Medals will be awarded to Pre-Premier dancers and Premier dancers. Dancers in the oldest Premier group will receive cash awards. 1st - $30, 2nd - $25, 3rd - $20, 4th - $15, 5th - $10, 6th - $5

  • Competition Rules

    1. First to enter, last to dance.
    2. Dance competition will run under the rules of the RSOBHD.
    3. Age is determined as of October 3rd, 2026.
    4. Classes will be broken after the closing date of registration.
    5. Any dancer causing a delay may forfeit their place in the event.
    6. Dancer numbers will be picked up on the day of the competition, nothing will be mailed.
    7. All judge's decisions are final. A $20 protest fee must accompany any formal written proposals.
    8. It is the responsibility of the dancer to abide by the 3-Month Rule (may not have taken any in-person or online classes or workshops with the judge three months prior to the event).
    9. No refund of entry fees unless competition is cancelled.
    10. Entry fees are non-transferable.
    11. Medals will be awarded to Pre-Premier dancers and Premier dancers. Dancers in the oldest Premier group will receive cash awards. 1st - $30, 2nd - $25, 3rd - $20, 4th - $15, 5th - $10, 6th - $5 
    12. Trophy will be awarded to the dancer with the highest overall points in each class, except for the Primary class.

    Solo Choreography Rules

    • Solo Choreography - Open to Pre-Premier and Premier dancers (only on Sunday)
    • Must supply own music using iPhone or mp3
    • Must have Celtic theme and use Highland/National movements
    • Maximum of 3 minutes
    • No stamp is given in choreography
