    KWRC Memorial Show

    A day to remember, ride, and celebrate together. We invite all KWRC members to join us for our annual Memorial Show, held in tribute to the members who have passed before us.

  • The first Memorial Show was held in March 1990, in memory of Stan Short, hence its original name – the Stan Short Memorial.

    Stan was a true gentleman who competed and strongly encouraged all riders.

    He was a great promoter of the versatility of our Quarter Horses, Paints and Appaloosas.

    The Memorial Show continues this tradition as a relaxed day for our members to come together, have some fun, enjoy our horses and show our respect and remembrance.

    Please review the event information and complete the registration form. Join us for a short, fun-filled day of Western riding at our KWRC Memorial Show. 

    Location: 115 Hutchinson Road, Helensville 0875

    Entry: $20 per person for the day, including the ground fee.

    Attire: Western or English attire is welcome.  

    This is a non-points, fun event designed for riders and horses of all ages and abilities. Whether you’re experienced in the show ring or just looking to get your horse out and have a go, this is a great opportunity to enjoy a relaxed day with fellow club members.

    Show Programme will include 3 Youth events 10 yrs and under.

    A Rookie Division and an Open Division, and a barrel race and flag Race towards the end of the day.

    KWRC will provide a free BBQ, so stick around, have something to eat and enjoy some good company. 

    This is a non-points event for KWRC members.

  • Grounds Rules - Please Read Before Entering

    • Follow the signs for parking and please be courteous of other competitors.
    • Please keep the road parking gate closed for the safety of the horses.
    • No solid pens are available. Please bring electric tape fencing and standards for pens. All tape fences must be electrified.
    • Stallion yards are available upon request. Numbers are limited, so please get in touch with us in advance to make arrangements.
    • Horses on the grounds overnight must have a designated person responsible for them at all times.
    • All areas must be left clean and tidy. Please spread manure and hay around the areas/pens and truck/float parking area.
    • Be aware of the drains and steep banks around the northwest side of the arena.
    • Please be aware that this is a working farm. All electric fences on the grounds will be live. Do not enter any gates that are closed. Be aware of drains, steep banks, livestock, water troughs, farm vehicles, etc. Gates must remain closed at all times.
    • Dogs are permitted, but MUST remain on a leash at all times and must not interfere with horses, riders or spectators. Owners are responsible for cleaning up after their dogs.
    • Long-sleeved shirts must be worn while riding anywhere on the grounds.
    • Headwear: Riders must wear either a Western hat or an approved safety helmet while riding at the show. Helmets are not mandatory unless required by the rules for a particular class or event. No bare heads are permitted.
    • Riding without a helmet is at your own risk. KWRC and the venue accept no responsibility for injury, loss or damage.

  • Inherent Risk
     

    • Horse riding and all equestrian activities involve inherent risks. While Kumeu Western Riding Club takes all reasonably practicable steps to provide a safe environment, participation in Club activities is entirely at your own risk.
    • Risks associated with equestrian activities include, but are not limited to: 
      • Falling from a horse.
      • Being kicked, bitten, stepped on or trampled by a horse.
      • Collision with another horse, rider, fence, vehicle, obstacle or object.
      • Horses reacting unpredictably to people, animals, weather or environmental
        conditions.
      • Uneven ground, slips, trips and falls.
      • Injury caused by equipment failure or incorrect use of tack.
      • Weather-related hazards including heat, rain, wind and reduced visibility.

    Club Commitment

    • Kumeu Western Riding Club is committed to providing, so far as is reasonably practicable, a safe environment for members, volunteers, officials, spectators and visitors.
    • The Club carries out regular risk assessments, maintains facilities where reasonably practicable and provides safety information for participants. However, every participant shares responsibility for maintaining a safe environment.


    Club Rights

    • Kumeu Western Riding Club reserves the right to:
      • Refuse participation.
      • Require any rider to dismount.
      • Remove any person or horse from an activity.
      • Postpone, modify or cancel any event.

    These decisions may be made where, in the opinion of the Committee or event officials,
    participation presents an unacceptable risk to the rider, horse or any other person.
    Where participation is withdrawn for safety reasons, no refund will normally be provided.

    Alcohol, Drugs and Impairment

    • No person may ride or participate in mounted activities while under the influence of alcohol, illegal drugs or medication that may impair judgement, balance or reaction time.
    • The Committee reserves the right to refuse participation where impairment is suspected.

    Children

    • Parents or legal guardians accompanying riders under 16 years of age are responsible for ensuring that those riders comply with all safety instructions and club rules throughout the event.
    • Children must remain appropriately supervised at all times.


    Dogs

    • Dogs are permitted but MUST remain on a leash at all times.
    • Dogs must not interfere with horses, riders or spectators.
    • Owners are responsible for cleaning up after their dogs.


    Smoking and Vaping

    • All Club facilities, buildings, arenas and surrounding farm areas are strictly smoke-free and vape-free.


    Biosecurity

    • Members and visitors agree to comply with any biosecurity measures implemented by Kumeu Western Riding Club.
    • These may include horse health declarations, movement restrictions, cleaning and
      disinfecting of equipment, or other measures required to help prevent the spread of infectious diseases affecting horses.

    Privacy

    • Personal information collected on this form will be used solely for Club administration, emergency management and health and safety purposes.
    • Information will be handled in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020. You may request access to or correction of your personal information at any time.

    Medical Information

    • Please advise the Club of any medical condition, injury or disability that could affect your participation or emergency treatment.
      Examples include:
      • Asthma
      • Allergies
      • Diabetes
      • Heart conditions
      • Epilepsy
      • Pregnancy
      • Recent surgery or injury
      • Concussion history
      • Any other relevant medical condition.

    Providing this information helps the Club respond appropriately in an emergency.

    Accident Compensation

    • Under New Zealand law, personal injuries are generally covered by the Accident
      Compensation Corporation (ACC). This means your ability to bring legal proceedings for personal injury is limited.
    • Visitors to New Zealand are encouraged to ensure they have appropriate travel and medical insurance before participating in equestrian activities.

    I agree to abide by the rules of the NZWRF and any rules of the Kumeu Western Riding Club. All horses, exhibitors and spectators enter the grounds at their own risk. I give permission for photos of me and/or my horse to be used by KWRC for promotional purposes.
