The HAPI River Tour is a curated journey through Ethiopia and Egypt, designed to connect travelers with History, Culture, Spirituality, and Community while exploring two of Africa’s most extraordinary ancient civilizations. From the sacred rock-hewn churches of Lalibela and the story of humanity preserved in Addis Ababa, to the pyramids, temples, tombs, and monuments along the Nile in Egypt, this journey brings history out of the books and places you directly on the land. Along the way, there is also space for adventure, celebration, great food, laughter, connection, beauty, and joy—because experiencing Africa should be as exciting as it is meaningful.

A special focus of this journey is following the story of the Nile from Ethiopia to Egypt and exploring the civilizations that flourished along its path. In Egypt, we will stand at Saqqara, Dahshur, and Giza, explore the Grand Egyptian Museum, and travel through Luxor to experience Karnak Temple, Luxor Temple, Medinet Habu, Queen Hatshepsut’s Temple, and the Valley of the Kings. Below is an overview of what is included in this transformative, multi-country pilgrimage through Ethiopia & Egypt.

• All international and regional airline flights associated with the group itinerary (Please note that we depart from New Jersey, Newark Internation Airport and return from New York, JFK airport).
• Hotel accommodations throughout the journey
• Two meals per day (breakfast and one additional meal, unless otherwise noted.

• Air-conditioned ground transportation in each country
• Entrance fees to scheduled historical, cultural, and sacred sites
• Experienced, English-speaking tour guides and on-the-ground support staff
• Group coordination and logistical support provided by Akhet Tours Inc. & HAPI, Inc.

• Visa fees for Ethiopia & Egypt.
• Travelers are required to have a Yellow Fever vaccination and valid Yellow Fever vaccination certificate for entry into Egypt because the group will be arriving from Ethiopia.
• Beverages, including bottled water, soda and alcoholic drinks
• Gratuities/tips for guides, drivers, and service staff across both countries are not included. A total of $175 USD per traveler is required to cover all group gratuities for the duration of the journey. This amount will be collected at the pre-departure orientation meeting or at the airport prior to departure. Additional personal tipping is optional.

Ethiopia: In Ethiopia, we will explore the country’s extraordinary history, spirituality, culture, and everyday life. Our journey includes the ancient rock-hewn churches of Lalibela, one of Africa’s most remarkable sacred sites, and the National Museum of Ethiopia in Addis Ababa, where we will encounter “Lucy” and explore Ethiopia’s connection to the story of human origins. We will also experience the beauty and adventure of Kuriftu Entoto Adventure Park, explore local markets, and spend time experiencing the sights, sounds, people, food, and vibrant culture of Ethiopia beyond the traditional tourist sites.

Egypt: In Egypt, we will journey through Cairo, Giza, and Luxor, experiencing some of the most extraordinary monuments and sacred sites of the ancient world. Travelers will explore Saqqara, Dahshur, and the Giza Plateau, visit the magnificent Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), and then continue to Luxor to walk through Karnak Temple, Luxor Temple, the Mortuary Temple of Ramses III at Medinet Habu, Queen Hatshepsut’s Temple, and the Valley of the Kings. Throughout the journey, we will explore the history, spirituality, architecture, and remarkable achievements of ancient Egyptian civilization while experiencing the culture, energy, and beauty of modern Egypt.

Please note: This overview highlights select experiences and is not a complete itinerary. A detailed, day-by-day itinerary will be shared with confirmed travelers as we get closer to departure.

The trip price is $5600.00 for double occupancy and $6500.00 for single occupancy (there is a $900.00 single supplement charge).  An initial deposit of $300 is required to secure your place on this experience. Early commitment ensures access to the best available pricing and guarantees your participation in this limited-capacity journey.

The total fare must be received no later than 30 days prior to departure (January 11, 2027). A minimum of half (Double: $2,800 & Single: $3250) the total trip price must be made by November 1, 2026.

Yellow Fever Vaccination Requirement: Please note that all travelers aged 9 months and older entering Egypt are required to present proof of a valid Yellow Fever vaccination.  The vaccination must have been administered within the last 10 years to be considered valid for entry into Egypt.  In addition, the Yellow Fever vaccine must be received at least 12 days prior to arrival in either country.  Travelers are responsible for ensuring compliance with this requirement and for carrying their International Certificate of Vaccination (Yellow Card) during travel. 

***Travelers are required to have a Yellow Fever vaccination for entry into Egypt because the group will be arriving from Ethiopia.***

Visa & Passport Requirements: A valid passport (with sufficient validity and blank pages) is required for entry into all countries on this itinerary. Travelers holding U.S. passports—and most other nationalities—do not require visas for this journey.

For travelers who do not hold a U.S. passport, visa requirements may vary based on nationality. Detailed guidance will be provided upon registration to ensure all necessary travel documents are obtained prior to departure.

Passport Requirement: Your passport must be valid through August 22, 2027 or later to participate in The HAPI River Tour. If your passport expires before August 21, 2027, you must renew your passport prior to travel.

Failure to complete requirements (VISA & VACCINATIONS) for entry into Ethiopia and Egypt is solely your responsibility, and HAPI Inc. & Akhet Tours Inc. will not be held liable for any travel disruptions, denied entry, health issues, or additional costs incurred due to lack of proper documentation or immunizations. The cancellation policy is that if you cancel your trip for any reason, you may be subject to a 100% cancellation.

Postponement Policy: Akhet Tours Inc. reserves the right to postpone the trip at any time. In the event the trip is postponed, Akhet Tours Inc. will work diligently to reschedule the trip to a later date and time that is suitable for travel. This program is automatically included for all travelers and will be enacted if your trip is postponed, for any reason, including terrorism, pandemics, or other world events. If the new dates are not suitable for your travel plans you may with an Akhet Tours Inc. representative to find a new date.  You will receive a transferable Future Travel Voucher in the amount of all monies paid for the original tour, less the cost of any purchased Travel Insurance/Protection plan.
