Tournament Rules
Weapons: 4th Gup and Higher
4th Gup - Cho Dan: Staff
E - Sam Dan: Dan Gum or Jang Gum
No live blades will be permitted (all bladed weapons must not be sharp)
All bladed weapons must be secured at all times.
Recommended Open Hand Hyung
These are only the recommended hyung. If your school has another rank appropriate traditional form for your rank, you are welcome to use it.
10th - 9th Gup: Ki Cho Hyung Il Bu or Ki Cho Hyung E Bu
8th Gup: Ki Cho Hyung E Bu or Ki Cho Hyung Sam Bu
7th Gup: Ki Cho Hyung Sam Bu or Pyung Ahn Cho Dan
6th Gup: Pyung Ahn Cho Dan or Pyung Ahn E Dan
5th Gup: Pyung Ahn E Dan or Pyung Ahn Sam Dan
4th Gup: Pyung Ahn Sam Dan or Pyung Ahn Sah Dan
3rd Gup: Pyung Ahn Sah Dan or Pyung Ahn O Dan
2nd Gup: Pyung Ahn O Dan or Bassai
1st Gup: Bassai or Naihanchi Cho Dan
Cho Dan Bo: Naihanchi Cho Dan or Sip Soo
Cho Dan: Sip Soo or Naihanchi E Dan
E Dan: Naihanchi E Dan, Naihanchi Sam Dan, or Jin Do
Sam Dan: Naihanchi Sam Dan, Jin Do, Ro Hai, or Kong Sang Koon
Sah Dan and Higher: Any
SPARRING RULES
NO JEWELRY OF ANY KIND IS ALLOWED TO BE WORN BY COMPETITORS
All competitors must wear sparring gear. There are no exceptions.
Mandatory gear:
Head gear
Hand gear
Foot gear
Mouth Guard
Males must wear a Groin cup.
Optional Equipment:
Shin Guards
Chest protectors for women
ADDITIONAL RULES:
No contact to the face. No punching toward the face.
Light touch to the body is allowed.
No throwing or Sweeping.
No Grabbing/ Holding a Competitors leg.
No pushing techniques.
No striking an opponent that has fallen.
No excessive contact.
No elbows/ knees/ gouging or head butting.
FAILURE TO OBEY RULES WILL RESULT IN IMMEDIATE
