• Branded Cowgirl Barrel Racing and Pole Bending Jackpot Series

    Selwyn Equestrian Centre Indoor Arena - 12th September 2026

  • Welcome the the Branded Cowgirl Barrel Racing and Pole Bending Jackpot Series where the goal is to introduce new people to the sport, season new horses and have fun!

     

    * Exhibitions are to show your horse the Indoor Arena, we are offering 2 minute exhibitions where you have the arena to yourself to do as you please. A 15 second warning bell will notify of your time remaining.

    * Helmets are compulsory for any rider aged 17 years and under at all times while mounted.
    • Rules - this event will be run under the NZRCA rulebook. The animal welfare code will be enforced and an Animal Welfare officer will be appointed on the day.
    • Any concerns on the day please see the Event Manager.
    • This series is all about training and fun bad sportsmanship ann bad horsemanship will NOT be tolerated.

    Ages:

    PeeWees - 3-8yrs

    Juniors - 9-15yrs 

    Open - 16yrs +

    Age is from the day of our first Jackpot - 12th September 2026.

     

    It doesn’t matter if you want to walk, trot or canter and the way it works is you can still place. The 1st Division is decided by the fastest person on the day and anyone within 2 seconds of them falls into the 1D. The winner of the 2D is 2 seconds slower than the winner of the 1D and everyone within 2 seconds falls into the 2D. The winner of the 3D is 4 seconds behind the winner of the 1D so it’s almost a game of luck where your time lands and it gives anyone a chance of winning.

    For Example if the fastest person on the day runs 16.87 seconds

    1D is 16.87 - 18.86

    2D is 18.87 - 20.86

    3D is 20.87 +

     

    Points will be gained over the 4 Jackpots (Sept, Oct, Nov & Dec) in the following catagories:

    Open Barrels 1D & 2D

    Junior Barrels 1D & 2D

    Open Poles 1D & 2D

    Junior Poles 1D & 2D

    Peewee Allround

    Prizes will be awarded at prizegiving in the conference room the completion of each Jackpot and a big Prizegiving after the December Jackpot where the Series winners will be crowned.

     

    Each Jackpot will have a theme to dress up:

    September: Pink!

    October: Rodeo Attire

    November: Who I want to be when I grow up

    December: Christmas

    There will be a Best Dressed Prize at each Jackpot.

  • Liability and Safety Agreement

    The following is the rider waiver that all competitors must agree to: I am riding at the Branded Cowgirl Barrel Racing Jackpots at my own risk. The facilities Selwyn Equestrian Centre offer a safe environment for all competitors to compete at. These facilities have multiple hazards present. Please be aware these are working facilities and other parties may be present during the event. 

    By signing this entry form/waiver, you agree to enter this property at your own risk and at no time can the organisers of this event or the property owners be held liable for any accident, injury, loss, or damage to any person/persons, horses or property in the responsible care of the signee. The organizers have recommended wearing an approved riding helmet, if you choose not to wear a helmet it is at your own risk. Riders under 17 MUST wear a yellow tagged helmet at all times when mounted.

    You agree that you are aware of the risks and take responsibility for any accidents that may occur to you or your horse/s. If you or your horse/s directly damages any property while at this event, you will pay for the cost of repair/full replacement.
