Mayor Brenda Moore prepares to welcome and inspire event volunteers.

The City of Saginaw invites residents, families, neighborhood groups, local businesses, community organizations, teams, and other groups to join us as we Team Up to Clean Up our City.

This community-wide day of service brings volunteers together to help beautify Saginaw by cleaning up litter and debris that has accumulated throughout the season at various locations across the City.

Kevin Rooker collecting litter while volunteering during the Spring 2025 Team Up to Clean Up event.
The late Kevin Rooker, a longtime community advocate and civic leader, participates in the Spring 2025 Team Up to Clean Up event.

The Team Up to Clean Up event involves cleaning up litter and debris, which may include brush as well as potentially sharp objects. While volunteers of all ages are welcome, children must participate with and remain under the supervision of a parent or guardian throughout the event. Parents and guardians are responsible for ensuring children participate safely and appropriately. We will provide all volunteers with general supplies such as nitrile-coated work gloves and trash bags. We also strongly encourage you to keep safety in mind. If you are not comfortable picking something up, please don't. Please alert an event organizer if you encounter an item that may be hazardous. Additional tools and supplies may be provided by sponsors or other volunteers and may be available in limited quantities. Because availability to tools—such as litter pickers—is dependent on donations, if you prefer to use specific tools and have you have your own, you may prefer to bring them with you.

When dressing for the event, we recommend comfortable, protective clothing such as closed-toe shoes or boots, work gloves, durable long pants, and long-sleeve shirts. You may also wish to consider bringing a small backpack containing personal comfort items such as hats, sunglasses, sunscreen, insect repellent, neck fans, and ponchos, depending on the weather.

A light breakfast, along with beverages, lunch, and some Team Up to Clean Up swag, will also be provided for volunteers.

Volunteers are responsible for transporting themselves between sites during the event, but may elect to carpool with other volunteers.

The City of Saginaw values your partnership. Joint efforts like these showcase the heart and soul of the many wonderful people in our community, and we cannot thank you enough for being a part of it.
