• Ashland Optimist Basketball

    2026-27 Registration Form
  • Recreational Basketball League for Grades 1-6, Boys and Girls

    5th & 6th Grade Basketball Registration

This form is for registering 5th and 6th grade players for the Ashland Optimist Basketball league. Basketball is also available for 1st-4th grade, see separate signups at http://ashlandoptimist.org/youthsports/basketball.html

5th and 6th grade play 5v5 basketball against other mid-Missouri teams in the Mid-Missouri Youth Basketball Association (MMYBA). 5th and 6th grade teams play separately, but there may be combined teams playing as 6th grade teams depending on registration numbers.

Practices are on weeknights beginning the week of October 5th in Southern Boone gyms. Practice times will be assigned after the coaches meeting and will remain the same for October and November. In December, practice times will be reassigned due to 1st-4th grade beginning to practice. Priority will be given to younger teams for earlier practice times.

Games are on Saturdays in November and December with the option to participate in tournaments in January and February. Games are hosted in various school gyms in mid-Missouri. Ashland will host each week, but not all Ashland teams will play in Ashland each week. Teams will get to play two games per Saturday.

Specific regular season game dates are:

    November 14
    November 21
    December 5
    December 12
    December 19

Players of all levels are welcome. Emphasis will be on instruction and practice of the basic skills. Players, coaches, and spectators are expected to have good sportsmanship and respect for the officials. Jerseys will be provided by Optimist.

For questions or to inquire about scholarships, please contact the Youth Basketball Coordinator Madeline Bloss at AshlandOptimistBasketball@gmail.com

  • PLAYER INFORMATION:

  • NEW JERSEY POLICY: to reduce costs and avoid raising registration fees, we will now only loan out jerseys for this age group due to the cost of the reversible jerseys. We will not buy a full set of jerseys each year. Ashland Optimist will continue using the red/white reversible tank top jersey design we have used for many years. Please respond to the questions so that we can accurately place orders for this season.

If your player already has a jersey that fits, they will keep it and use it. It is your choice to turn it in or keep it at the end of this season, since it was from a prior season. Please tell us the number so that we can avoid duplicate numbers on the same team.

If your player already has a jersey but it does not fit, we ask that you would consider turning it in for another player to use. Your player will receive a new or used jersey to wear for this season that will be expected to be turned in at the end of the season.

If your player does not have a jersey, they will receive a new or used jersey to wear for this season that will be expected to be turned in at the end of the season.

If you have past Optimist jerseys that you wish to donate, please let us know. I am planning a time to accept donations of jerseys at the Optimist building.

Please understand that this decision was made to ensure we can keep costs low for players and parents. Jersey costs have risen an incredible amount in the last few years and it does not make sense to continue spending money on new jerseys each year for players to wear them for one season.

  • PARENT/GUARDIAN INFORMATION:

  • Can You Coach or Assistant Coach?

  • An essential element of youth basketball is the involvement of parents, especially those who can take on the role of coaching a team. All coaches are volunteers. Your child will be placed on your team. Thank you for ensuring all players have the opportunity to play this year by coaching!

Select the option(s) below that apply to your family's ability to coach. If you opt to coach, the Youth Basketball Coordinator will reach out with more information.

  • Will a parent/guardian of this player volunteer to coach?*
