Recreational Basketball League for Grades 1-6, Boys and Girls

 

3rd & 4th Grade Basketball Registration

This form is for registering 3rd and 4th grade players for the Ashland Optimist Basketball league. Basketball is available for all students 1st-6th grade, see separate signups at http://ashlandoptimist.org/youthsports/basketball.html if your player is not in 3rd or 4th grade.

3rd and 4th grade play 5v5 full-court basketball with referees.

All teams will play games in Ashland against other Ashland Optimist teams. Boys and girls will play separately. 3rd and 4th grade players will play together and efforts will be made to balance teams between grade levels. Teams will be assigned randomly.

Practices begin the week of November 29th in Southern Boone gyms.

Games are on Saturdays in January and February. All games will be in the Southern Boone Middle School Gym. Teams will get to play two games per Saturday if gym time allows. If there are too many teams for each team to play two games every week, teams will get an equal number of game days with two games.

Players of all levels are welcome. Emphasis will be on instruction and practice of the basic skills. Players, coaches, and spectators are expected to have good sportsmanship and respect for the officials. Registration includes a shirt for each player.

To keep the league recreational and fun for all players, teams will be assigned randomly. Special requests to keep players together can only be made by mutual request (Player A requesting Player B AND Player B requesting Player A). Only one request per player. To make a request or discuss other extenuating circumstances requiring accommodations, please email AshlandOptimistBasketball@gmail.com. Efforts will be made to accomodate reasonable requests while balancing teams and keeping the league recreational.

An essential element of youth basketball is the involvement of parents, especially those who can take on the role of coaching a team. All coaches are volunteers. Your child will be placed on your team. Thank you for ensuring all players have the opportunity to play this year by coaching!

The cost is $55 per player for 3rd & 4th grade players. Registration is due by November 20th. If interested in registering after November 20, please contact AshlandOptimistBasketball@gmail.com to find out if there is space available.

For need-based scholarships, please email AshlandOptimistBasketball@gmail.com to receive a coupon code before completing registration. If you are registering three or more players from the same household, please email to request a coupon code.

I acknowledge that basketball is a sport that requires physical exertion and has some risk of injury.  I have no concerns about my child’s ability to handle the level of activity necessary to play basketball.  The child named above has my permission to participate in the Optimist basketball program.

I hereby give my consent for the above child to be treated by a physician or surgeon in case of sudden illness or injury while participating in the above event.
