Led by LCC Staff and Dallas artist and TWU professor, Giovanni Valderas, this two part workshop series introduces participants to the essentials of building and strengthening a professional artistic practice. Through hands-on sessions, artists will develop biographies and artist statements, explore strategies for building relationships and accessing artist resources, and learn how to prepare and submit materials for open calls and exhibition opportunities. Workshops are drop-in friendly, with a maximum capacity of 20 participants per session. Raul Rodriguez, Visual Arts Coordinator at the LCC will also provide an overview of the Latino Cultural Center’s year-round open calls and various opportunities for artists.
Eligibility
Open to participants 15 years of age and older.

• Sept 26, 2026 Biographies, budgeting and artist statements led by Giovanni Valderas and Raul Rodriguez
A hands-on workshop focused on developing clear and effective artist biographies and statements, and creating a budget for an exhibition. LCC Staff will also go over step by step submission process of Open Calls.
• Oct 3, 2026 Artist Relationships with Intention led by Giovanni Valderas and Guests
A conversation on building meaningful professional relationships within the arts and approaching networking, collaboration, and community engagement with purpose and intention.
All workshops will be 12 p.m. – 3 p.m. during each session.
