2027 Sauga's Song of the Year Contest

The Mississauga Arts Council (MAC), Metalworks Studios, and SoundsUnite Canada are pleased to partner for the 2027 Sauga’s Song of the Year Contest. This initiative aims to identify the most impactful original song that reflects the lived experiences, hopes, and dreams of Mississauga residents for the year ahead, while celebrating the city’s rich cultural diversity and vibrant community.

Singer-songwriters from all musical genres and backgrounds are invited to submit original demos for consideration. The winner will be awarded the title of “2027 Sauga’s Song of the Year”, receive a cash prize of $500, receive a one-hour Career Coaching Session from a professional coach for artists and creatives, Chris Mitchell, and receive a professional recording and mixing session for their winning demo at Metalworks Studios. MAC will also engage the winning artist to perform the song at a minimum of three public events (dates and details to be confirmed).

A distinguished jury of musical professionals with connections to Mississauga’s music will review all submissions and determine the winner, who will be announced in Spring 2027.

Artists are not permitted to use artificial intelligence (AI) technologies in any part of their practice for this contest. This includes the use of generative AI tools, platforms, or programs in the creation, development, or production of the song or corresponding materials.

The deadline to submit your demo is November 30th, 2026, 5 PM EST. NO LATE SUBMISSIONS WILL BE CONSIDERED. 

Please note: In order to submit your entry to the contest, you must upload the demo to SoundsUnite Canada AND complete the form on Mississauga Arts Council's website.
